i need some help i already have a idea but i need another opinion i am try to convert mine 2.0 engine not distributor to convert with distributor why i think i can gane more hp cause i am going N/A i already have from a probe the ECU, exsaust cam, distributor, flow meter the only a thing i need is the engine harness

...with no gear/port it would be way too expensive and fustrating. Get a stand alone ECU to solve your problems.

Uh... My memory's a bit fuzzy... but I'm not sure the new head has the port where the distributor goes... okay, just looked, it's there. Dunno if all the sensors will swap between the cars, though...

Regardless of cost...Why do you think you can make more power with a Distributor Vs. Coil Packs?
I want to hear your thoughts on this..
Because I think you will be doing a lot of work for not a lot of gain.

There will be no gain with a distributor. There's a notable amount of electrical loss in a mechanical connection such as that found within a distributor. For starters, spark dwell isn't nearly as accurate as what can be had with electronic control. Furthermore, deterioration of the distributor cab and electrodes further degrades the spark energy. It goes on.

My assumption is that you want a distributor for ease of timing advance. If that's the case, this isn't the best way to acheive it.

This is prmarily what I was getting at...But I didnt want to put it out there for the OP as AMMO for his fight...I wanted to see what he knew.
But there it is..you said it about as well as it could be said in simple terms.

You really have no need for a Distributor..Stick with Electronic coil pack and tune your timing another way.

I've thought about it myself, since I have an entire 626 sitting in my garage... but it has always struck me as too much work for no gain... no dynamic timing means that I'd always have to run 95 RON and even then there'd be spots in the power band where the engine would not be happy.

Aftermarket engine control would be a much better use of money.

I couldn't believe it when I bought a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant for my wife. I looked under the hood at the 3.0 V6 and lo and behold... a distributor. How friggin retro is that? My only question is WHY!
But it still hauls ass and has serious passing power.
