hello everyone im new to this forum
i have a question. my engine light turn on, i just came from my mazda dealer and they asking me $118 just to get a diagnose. lol
i know autozone stop giving free code reads. should i buy a code reader or get it diagnose by a local mechanic? any help thanks

All my local Autozones and Advanced Auto stores pull codes for free. You should be able to buy a simple OBD reader for around $60 and then you can pull codes whenever you need. That's what I would recommend doing. From there you can fix the issue yourself depending on what it is and end up saving some money.

thanks i fix the issue, pep boys pull code for free. it was the evap something. Wife did not lock the gas cap correctly and the engine light came up. did a little research online and reset the engine light. thanks for your reply. that was yesterday and the engine light did not pop up again. i was getting worry for a minute.
