Project Short Shifter

Don't let the title fool you, this is not a true short shift system that I'm working on, but combined with an SSP this mod will definitely reduce height/throw.

I took the idea from here but it can be done many different ways.

I plans to reduce the height of my shifter by 1.5-2" combining this with an SSP should result in a very nice reduction on both ends.

Originally I was going to cut then weld the shifter, but this seems like a pretty decent method.

I'll post up my results as I dive in.

1.) Cut the desired length off the shifter
2.) Retap the end of the shifter with a pipe die (does anyone know the thread size?)
3.) Put the shift knob back on
4.) Enjoy.

By doing this your gonna make it much harder for it to get into gear.

Try holding the shifter lower the way it is now. Its hard to get into gear because you dont have the same leverage. In order to actually shorten shifts the pivot point has to change.

I don't disagree with you, but I have an extra shifter and am all about experimentation. It's worth a try.
