Today, I swapped out the Volks with R888s to more streetable wheel/tires. Tires are Toyo T1-Sport wrapped around BBS MonoForged wheels. I am a fan or older Toyo T1S and T1R and was told the new T1-Sports are quiet, grippy, and responsive. Which after driving around today for over an hour through back country roads, highway pulls, sitting on traffic :), I like the T1-Sport.

I think the Volk's look more aggressive, like a track wheel, but the BBS's really compliment the rest of the car

I wish I had the dilemma of having to chose between TE's and BBS...

Car is looking great like always.

Naw... I been into rotaries for 15 years.. And when you don't change platforms, its easy enough to have ton of parts..luckily all the wheels interchange and hence I have different wheels on my MB.

Besides it helps to start with quality parts they tend to stand the test of time...

Recently purchased the rare RE-Amemiya Carbon Fiber sideview mirrors..

Took the old APR mirrors off, made a small carbon base to cover up the old stock mirror mount area, and installed the new mirrors.

Afterwards, I realized the old bolts from APR were kind of old and had the used look. So, used some left over fender washer and bolts (from CR3 Motorsports) which worked out perfect!

I've also took my old vinyl out and trying out the Plasti Dip stuff on my lower half of my fenders to see if it helps protect the paint..

I've also blacked out the emblem using the plasti dip..

And how the car stands as of today with the mirror and such..

Enjoying your updates as always, Phil...Gotta say...I dig the BBS rims but those VOLKS are straight sexy on the 7...Especially in this pic...

I prefer the overall look with the BBS wheels... either way the car looks amazing as always.

I wish I could tag JT on this, show him Plastidip is even used on high end builds. ((gah) <---JT's reaction, LOL)

Herblenny it's looking real good, keep up the good work.

I remember seeing your 7 at a car meet on some blog (forget which one) and they said it was quality but they were pissed because you showed up with dirty wheels, haha...

LOL! I thought it was pretty clean for close to 1000 miles on it, rain for 2 days, etc. through my event.

Antoine, thanks for the comment.. I do like the TE's better.. BBS is temporary and for the street driving.

Its been awhile since I last updated this thread.. So, here are few things I've been up to..

Trying to turn my MB FD RX7 into a fun track car. I had these Sakebomb Garage AP Racing BBK's for awhile and I finally had a chance to install them over past couple of weeks (been busy with non-car related stuff).

Racing Brake rear brakes

with my Plasti Dip Old School SSR wheels from the 90s :)

I also got this really awesome surge tank set up to solve my fuel issue on the 20B RX7 that went to SEMA..

One I bought holds 2 x Walbro E85 pumps. Quality is top notch and reasonably priced for what it is. Its made of billet aluminum.

They also make some cool oil catch can. I'm about to order one of those also.

Ok.. Finally after some researching the Plasti Dip and trying some cans, I've decided to get the Pro Car kit from www.DipYourCar.com and finally paint the whole car..

But, Day before dipping the car, took all the aero off and did a track day :)

Next day, I borrowed my friend who owns BNR Turbos' shop and prep'd for laying some 'dip'.
Here is a video :

Now some end results.

I also clear dipped all my carbon bits.. and installed my carbon aeros..

Interior with clear dip on carbon bits.

By the way.. 4 hours after dip, I had to drive 1 hour in rain back to my house..

Not bad for a first time dip.. Black is temporary but will keep it for few weeks and change to a different color... will post some more pics when I change.

Holy crap. Not usually a fan of flat colors, but it totally works on that car. Awesome.

Now I had the matte black finish for a week and put some miles on the car.

Here is what I like about the finish.

-No more polishing and waxing the car :)
-Wiping the car with just water to clean
-protects my original paint
-easy to re-do
-costs $200 to re do.

Here are some more pics over the past 10 days..
