Problems installing Medieval tranny mount

Yesterday i went to install my medieval tranny mount (not rear motor mount), but wasn't able to get it to align up. I dropped it low and raised it up and could not get the damm thing to align. I was afraid to let the tranny fully drop down because i wasn't sure if i could without putting too much stress on the axle or other mounts. I put back the stock mount and it was cake to realign. Anybody run in to the same problem or have any advise, its sunday and i thinking about trying again.

I installed my TRZ yesterday and this is what I did. I put a rag on the front the hood, like right where the vents are to cool the tmic. Grab right there, put your feet against the tranny and push with your legs. I did to line it up while my buddy screwed in the bolt.

Yea its kind of a b**** to line up.... you have to push and pry and try and try. After a while I was able to do it. If you have a grease you can use, put it on the bushing and try to do it from there. Have a strong screw driver that is small enough to fit through the bolt hole so you can line it up that way.

The install is a b**** but the outcome is well worth it...

i used a hammer and long flat head to pry the mount back and forth and finally got it to line up... all while moving the motor up and down iwth jack

The rear mount isn't a weight bearing mount so its not required to support the motor with the jack but it does help to move the motor around.

Edit - Gotta start reading the threads, though this was for the rear mount. sorry.

Mine was a b**** too, and to be honest I'm not sure it's worth all the noise the thing makes. Installation would be easier on these things if they made the upper plate holes large rectangular clearance holes like the factory mount instead of clearance holes that barely fit over the studs. I drilled the holes out on mine to 11/16th on mine and it made (my second) installation easier.

You may also want to make sure that the bolt will actually go thru the metal sleeve before trying to install everything. The hole in the sleeve thet sent me was to small for the bolt to go thru it.

Overall I'm not too impressed with this mount. It does wonders for the cars shifting, and really helps the cars turn in under heavy load, but the noise it transmits thru my car is too much. That and I had a couple of issues with mine. I think it's a good idea, though on mine at least the execution was lacking.

if this is for the new medieval mount.

just throw some armor all or wd-40 on it.

and it will slip in or you may need a rubber hammer to tap it lightly.

thats how i did mine

well i finally installed my tranny mount yesterday, which was kind of a b**** to line up with the medieval mount.

I was expecting tons of vibes, but its hardly any from what i already have. I think if you already have a rear mm and side mount, its not going make a huge difference and its not even broken in yet.

most improved was the shifting, each gear take less effort and is smooth, the way it should have been. Pretty good mod for the money.

I dont know about the medieval mount but the TRZ is much easier if you do it right. You loosely install the bolt that attches the mount the the tripod bracket. Then you just push/pull the engine until the mount plate falls onto the studs. Bada boom bada bing !! Done. The whole sideways bushing deal with the medieval unit may not allow such an install.....

yeah, that is what i had to do with the tri-pod bracket. The horizontal bolt design did make it difficult to align and made the job longer than it should have ... lol
At one point, i was thinking about just selling the mount and buying the TRZ one because i was able to align the stock mount and the TRZ mount uses the vertical bolt like the stock mounts.

I had a b**** of a time trying to get the long bolt through the mount. I got it about half way through and it would not go any more. Ended up putting the stock mount back. I will have to try to assemble it wile not in the car.

I also couyldn't get the large washers on either side of the mount. The bushing was right up against the upper mount on the engine side. I think it would be a lot easer if the mounting holes in the upper bracket were larger. I will have to drill them also.

jeff, try using the another jack or the scissor jack to help angle it into position, I ended up having the tri-pod bracket unscrewed to help with the positioning. After i got it in, it i was hard to take back out, so i ended up just hand tightening the lower bolt and nut and torquing the top nut down. Hopefully it shouldn't be a problem, feels good so far. After that everything else was torqued down.
