Problem with B&M Short Shift

I installed a B&M short shift on my MP3 since 3 years, but since last year the shifter is making noise when the car is running......there is a sounds like deeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzz on the bottom of the shifter. I live with it since it is not a huge problem, but then the noise is getting more often and louder.

I went to a garage, he see that the bushing at the bottom of the shifter is all worn.....since is a B&M shift, he doesnt have the part and he custom made a metal to attach it. Noise is gone, then 1-2 week later, the noise came back.

I went back there and he said he sealed half way of it......ok..noise gone.......but 3 weeks later, the noise came back again!!!



Anyone have similar experience on the short shifter?

its a normal "feature" of the B&M. you will ahve to live with it, or get something else.

yup! i have a fidanza short shifter which is made like the B&M and mine does the same thing. the sound comes from the pivot joint not making a perfect seal and your hearing the vibration of metal to metal. the guys with kartboy or twm dont hear this is because the stock pieces are plastic.

ever since i installed my B&M i have this weird vibration noise when i'm on gears 4 and 5 mostly... my car ends up sounding like a tractor!

weird, i get no noise from mine after 2 years

There is no way I can perm fix the noise?
Bushings?

i heard that removing the heat shield fixes the problem, but i didnt try yet

yah thats only if the bottom is hitting, i bent mine downwards so it would fit, but i still get a rattle from the pivot ball joint.

i took my heatshield off to accomodate for the resonator, no problems here
