problem driving in morning

Count me in on the dogpile!

I've discussed this with the dealer and they have adjusted the clutch ten ways to Sunday, but it does exactly what you folks are saying. It's going in this week to replace the back window (defroster connection is screwed) and service. I'll hit them over the head again!

Well no surprise I have the same problem and would love to find out if there is a way to fix this problem if anyone does find out please email me thank you

ihave the same problem with my P5 but only in the winter never happened once in the summer and i have 59000 Km on it i have also notice the muffler jumps bad when the clutch jumps but it dosen't happen all the time and only in the cold temps

Reviving an old thread

Ok, ran into this problem for the first time yesterday. Was there ever a solution other than letting the car warm up? It had gotten up into the 80s lately then dropped back to 40 yesterday and I had to leave the little lady outside. (Already prepped the boat in the garage.) It feels to me like gear tips grinding and makes my right front wheel hop some.
I am MORE than willing to let the car warm up more than the 30+ seconds I do now if that's what it needs, just wondering if a recall or tech note ever came out on this.

I don't know if this is at all related, but on a cool/cold start on a somewhat cold day when I first start to drive and have to wait at a light, I can feel some kind of vibration on the gas pedal/floor. It kind of osscilates like <vibrate>...<nothing>...<vibrate>...<nothing> and after it warms up it goes away. I didn't seem to notice this when I first bought the car. Of course, that was in summer. Anybody else notice this?

Also, the idle RPMs aren't really low or high or anything with this... Usually between 800-1100 at idle.

basically our transmission sucks, but honestly guys what do you expect from a $18,500 car. My friend has a 2k1 civic and he has countless problems so i consider myself pretty lucky. We have a Mazda not a BMW.

To answer the last question, I expect a car that at least operates normally.

I too have the cold morning clutch slipping problem.

Same thing, after driving it for about five minutes(sometimes less) it goes away. It is a lot less pronounced when switching from 1st to 2nd and even less after that. It is very obvious when taking off in 1st gear. It's not a matter of warming up the engine, because I do that. It doesn't have to be extremely cold either, I live in CA and it has happened to me recently(this morning actually) when it wasn't that cold out, and I garage my car.
I have tested this out a little further to isolate it to a problem with the tranny and not the engine:
If you get it into gear then slow way down without pushing the clutch in then accelerate back up and it does not do the chatter then you know it's not the engine causing the problem. Mine does does this fine and it only happens when I am using the clutch. I asked a very experienced and trusted mechanic about this(he suggested the test above) and he felt this was very strange since clutches usually slip because of heat not cold. He suggested that it at least be reported while under warranty to insure that it will be covered or to find out if there is a TSB out there about it because it is not a "normal" transmission problem.

Just read the thread, and yeah I can relate same s*** happens to me in the morning, its so annoying!! Its my first stick car as well I just thought I was just stoopid.

Oh also does this happen to anyone? When I leave it in neutral and the engine on...it might start to drop under 1,000 rpms and feels like its gonna stall then rise up and go back down and up down and up. WTF is up with that??? ANyone?
