preformance Front Sway-Bar for 2000 lx

does anyone know, where i can find one? if so any good recommendations for models. Everywhere i look there only seems to be rear sway-bars only.

thats because on our fwd cars, rear sways are more benificial than front sways.
do you already have a rear sway bar?
someone correct me if im wrong.

no rear sway bar as of yet

as stated above i don't have one yet, i'm mainly looking to see what's out there, any recommendations? also my haynes manual is for the 323 and protege' so does that mean that a 2000 323 has the same suspension as my mazda in other words if i can find a front swaybar for that then will it fit the protege?

What year do you have? Is it even a 3rd gen(2000-2003)? The only front sway I know of that that's made for those models, is the racingbeat swaybar found on the mazdaspeed protege's or the mp3.

I believe third gen starts at 99. Sorry, had to correct it, it was bothering me ;)

its a 2000 lx, will the mazda speed sway fit it you think?

Yes, it will fit. One major reason most people don't bother swapping out the front bar is that it's quite involved. You have to disconnect the halfshafts, take the exhaust apart, drop the front subframe, etc, etc, oh my. Go to the Mazda dealer and they'll tell you it's a 6 hour job.

You can buy the factory/Racing Beat kit (includes everything you need for the installation) at protegegarage.com for $360.

Autoexe also makes 26/21mm swaybars but they're way expensive and not too easy to get. Whiteline makes (made?) 24/20mm swaybars, but they're not really available in North America.

Why do you want a bigger front bar? Having a small front and larger rear bar allows the car to rotate better in corners. I installed a Racing Beat rear sway bar on my car and noticed HUGE amounts of improvement with turn in and mid corner rotation. If I push the car hard and late brake mid corner, I can get the rear end to swing around.

A bigger front bar improves response to quick steering, and, of course, reduces roll.

Oversteer is fun, but it's not the fastest way through corners.

A bigger front bar will promote understeer- which is neither fun nor the fastest way through corners.

And while I used the term "rotate" in my earlier post, that doesn't nessecarily mean oversteer. A car can rotate better- which is another way to say "better balanced". The car can oversteer easier now, but that's really only if I push it too hard and too deep into a corner and do too much braking while turning.

Whiteline

I just heard back from the whiteline guys they have a sway bar set (24mm/20mm) part numbers BMF50 and BFR52 just in case anyone is interested.
I'm mainly just trying to get a neutral steer out of the protege. So i'm hoping the ratio of the set from white line will help get that, rater than just trowing a larger one in back, plus wouldn't having a way larger rear bar increase the chance of frame damage, its just a hunch.

Sweet

thanks man. yeah, its going to be about 6months before i can really start doing anything to the car. but i'm putting together a price list for the parts and mods that i want to install, and i'm gonna be doing the suspension first, followed by the drivetrain, then engine, interior, then exterior.
