has anyone replaced the gasket connecting the header to the pre cat? mine was broken so i figured i would tackle the job myself and save some cash. (seemed pretty simple) after changing the gasket and putting everything back together the exhaust leak i had seems to have gotten bigger and louder. i didn't do anything to the gasket itself besides add some oil on it before installing. was this wrong? was i suppose to add some sort sealant or something? i thought maybe i didn't screw the bolts down enough but they are all pretty tight. at this point im lost and i really don't have to have to pay someone to fix this. anyone know what i could have done wrong or what i didn't do that i was suppose to?! any help would be greatly appreciated!

oh no, the part that broke on my car was actually part 256-1115 in that picture. im pretty sure i got the right part but i feel like i might have messed up the install somehow

are you sure it's leaking from there and not somewhere else? Did you replace the other gaskets from the other parts you removed? egr is tight? manifold gasket was replaced? Cleaned the mating surfaces between the manifold and precat?

The egr is tight but i didn't replace the manifold gaskets although i probably should while i was under there. ( ordering that today). as for the leak im pretty sure it's coming from there because the sound directed me to there. then to make sure i put my hand in front of it in different positions around it until i felt a leak then gave it a little throttle. the flow of air that was coming out got stronger and it actually burned my finger a little. i was thinking of adding a gasket sealant/maker to the new gaskets even though when i removed them originally, i didn't really see any signs that there was any of the stuff on there before. is this a good idea? or should i have done that in the first place

Also thanks for all the responses. i appreciate it!

I recommend copper coat for exhaust gaskets. You can get it at any auto parts store. it comes in a spray can. you just hang the gaskets, spray both sides, let them dry until theyre tacky, then install. Works fantastic.
