Power Window Modification for Mazda3?

I've been looking around trying to find a way to use the power windows without having the engine on (accessories is it?).
I found a forum link, but it's an older model (Protoge I guess, the fuses are on the driver side, not the passenger) and I'm wondering if anyone has done this mod for the M3.

Good luck. All of this car's functions go through a computer chip to operate the relays and motors. No more simple switch-relay-motor circuits.
About the only thing that doesn't go through a computer is the cigarette lighter.

I saw the mod for the protege, I just figured it would work for the M3, it's a simple principle...

Agreed. It is a simple principle. And the Protege is a much simpler car. They had to go and make everything complicated with 99% of the circuits being computer controlled in the 3, though.

When I get home, I'll scan the wiring diagram for the windows and show you what I mean.

That's a disappointment, I was hoping I had that option.
Thanks anyway.
PS If you have that wiring diagram, I wouldn't mind taking a look at it goldwing2000

Yeah, I didn't get to scan it last night. I'll get to it asap.

Looks you may have lucked out. The windows don't appear to go through the computer. Should be a fairly straightforward operation.

I looked in the service manual, and reference to an Ignition Off window control, apparantly the windows are supposed to be operational 42s after the car is turned off.
Can anyone else verify this on their car? Mine doesn't do it.

As for the mod, that's good news, would be nice if I would pull it off.

Mine doesn't. Once the key is off, it's dead.

if the manual you looked at is the infamous CD one, then quite a few things from it doesn't apply to the north american versions.... that CD manual is for the european version
