We actually get 911 calls somewhat frequently from people who think they either smoked too much marijuana, or had it laced with something and are going to die.

People's minds work on this level far more often than you think, especially when they are on drugs, mixing drugs, or just plain dumb.

What happens is you take an air sample. Once you start igniting the pot you are releasing those molecules in the form of gas. You're also altering the molecules of the pot because you're applying heat to it to break the molecular bonds. Once that gas is in the air it is going to bump around with the other molecules in the air. Gas molecules are spread out and not bonded together very well so there is room for the new molecules to fit in and bump around. However, depending on how much smoke you make and how much volume of air you're trying to fill you can reach a point where a human can not exist off that gas mixture, either from too many CO2 molecules and not enough Nitrogen and Oxygen. Eitherway, you dead.

the amount of pot that would need to burn in order to "suffocate" yourself is @ a rediculous level (especially for a standard 10X10 room)... so theres no point to even go there.

especially since this guy INGESTED THE MARIJUANA, it makes no sense to bring it up. The discussion is to whether or not you can OD on THC. My understanding is that it would take about 1lb of marijuana to contain enough THC to cause an overdose (used within a certain time period obviously).

now eating it, I dont know how much more/less THC is taken in by the body in order for this to happen.

Either way, if you OD on pot, youve hit a new level of stupid...

As some of you know I work for a cigarette manufacturer, and just to give an idea of how much the Govt' could make off weed I'll give you an example.

My company manufactures sub generic cigarettes, the cheaper brands. Specifically one brand. With my brand of sub-generic cigarettes alone the state of TN made 8.7 million dollars. No overhead or anything really.

That is just state taxes.

In federal taxes last year, our market brought in 12.3 billion dollars straight into the Federal Govt.

Do the same with weed, and we could get around the same levels. If not more.

Not to mention the billions of dollars that are currently spent each year on arresting, prosecuting and housing offenders in prisons. Something like 50% of all prison inmates are in for drug related charges; that's bull...

Didn't read all the threads but anyone notice this was 1 day after 4/20

From a report I did on hash and cannabis in high school it takes roughly 10,000 times the normal dose to have an over dose. ya good luck smoking/eating that much.

Hash oil is a lot better for baking anyway since you can just replace the normal cooking oil the recipe calls for. Only problem is you get hungry after eating and the first thing you see in front of you...more brownies

Delta 1 tetrahydrocannabinol biosynthesizes into delta 3 tetrahydrocannabinol when heated. That would be your psychoactive ingredient, not that the molecules in THC are "breaking". And being in any closed room you would run out of breathable air smoking or not.

Only way I can see dying from it is trying to hold your hit in too long, passing out and hitting your head on the coffee table. Then your friend drives you to the hospital and you get hit by a meteor on the way there. Then you turn the car around and head for NASA to have the meteor inspected but before you get there alien viruses multiply in your skull and baby aliens spawn out through your eye sockets. goddamn i'm never smoking again.

The room doesn't have to be closed, you could even have some plants which would turn your C02 back into oxygen. The whole air system is a cycle and you can either slow down the recycle process (closed room, barely vented room, ect.) or overload the air (with smoke) faster than it can cycle. However, if you have a vented room and were burning enough plant material that you would still suffocate, I would be concerned about heat (temperature in the air) as well.

But if there is no light in the room even if you have a plant it can't photosynthesize the co2 into oxygen, sugar and water. oh my god there is a plant right next to me but my cubicle isn't near a window i'm going to die!!!!
