So I wanted to get a list going to show everyones set up that is running a relocated MAF and VTA BOV set up(No dual setups please!!)

Please also specify which BOV you are running and if you are still getting any compressor surge (turkey/flutter) whether it be at low boost or all the time.

I'm trying first and formost to determine what BOV I want to replace the GReddy knock off I bought to use for the time being.

Please respond with this:

Set up:
-FMIC/SMIC
-Relocated MAF?
-BOV Type?
-BOV Location?(Cold pipe or Hot pipe)
-Compressor surge/Turkey?
-If so, when? (low boost, all the time?)
-Any leaking at idle?

My setup:
-eBay FMIC
-Relocated MAF
-TurboXS Type-H
-Cold pipe
-Zero compressor surge(turkey)

Dont have to post pics if you dont want, the questions are more important. BOV type, compressor surgge, etc?

I have had all 3 versions of the SSQV and used them all with a dual setup, however I experimented with them by relocating my MAF and removed the BPV to see if I got any surge. Every single one gave me surge when running the BOV solo. I adjusted the spring on my V1 countless times and still couldn't get rid of it. The HKS is not meant for low boost applications.

eBay FMIC
Relocated MAF
HKS SSQV V2 Black edition, VTA, chrome insert
Mounted on the cold pipe
Some compressor surge at 6psi
Doesn't leak or whistle ever

OOPS....... I have had one hell of a day, it is on the cold pipe apx 4" before the MAF.

regardless....from the research I've been doing, it seems the TurboXS BOVs are the best bet for our system...most(almost all) of the videos I've seen have no compressor surge when using one of their BOVs even at low boost...

-Sounds like a horse at high vac./ low boost (from -10hg/in to about 2psi)
-Any leaking at idle? -Nope

Ebay FMIC
MAF not relocated
Ebay BOV right off throttle body
Here comes Thanksgiving dinner!!!
Gobble, gobble, gobble whether I'm at 3lb. or 8lb.
No leaks at all- boost gauge reads 20lb. of vacuum consistently and I've smoke tested the system 10 times now. Took me a while to get it that way, but did.

its a little funky at low boost, but that could be the way mines set up, since this car hasent seen anything less then 10 psi since its first owner, lol who i believe put it on there. (either him or HondaEat-R) either way mine was setup for high boost.

Since compressor surge doesn't damage the turbo, I don't worry about it. I love the way my SSQV sounds, I don't even notice any turkey.

LOL Im thinking thats the way I'm going to go althoug I might go for the Type H so its not crazy loud.

Compressor surge IS actually bad for the turbo...
