Post Pics Of Your Mazda Protege

Unfortunatly thats the problem. They're good until you start launching (like in a drag race), then they brake like a child brakes a candy bar :(
Bear in mind that you have a G25MX-R (check on that I'm not 100% sure) and it should be possible to use strenghtened 3rd and 5th gears from the G15M-R (found in MP3 and MSP) and also you should do something about the diffs, try to find some aftermarket ones.
Also if I remember correctly there is something that needs to be done with the bell housing to strenghten it, but I will look into it and post it here with a few links.
I've seen a few people use Subaru tranny instead, but I think thats a really expensive solution if you're not gonna go way past the 300HP.

I've read that people make hybrids with VJ20 and another one, try google-ing out something, it cant hurt ;)

@91Protege - Then it's time to learn a new trade - bodywork@home101 :)
A friend of mine was pissed on his bodywork guy (here we call them "limar" and in slang we call them "marli" (like bob marley :))), anyhow he was so pissed that he went on and bought him self a welding machine and did the whole bodywork by himself. Cant find the pictures, though. In the end it looked like s*** :) and he lost the same amount of time on correcting errors as he did on making them. The next car he worked on was a 4, on a 5 point scale. You just need to have patience and time ;)

hmmm...yeah money is my big deal right now. I dont plan on launcing the car that much..I never do anything like drag racing. All my racing is done like this...

and yes the turbo I bought is a vf11 in a vj20 shell. So its the hybrid like your talking about.. Here are some pictures of that and the BP

Im also very torn though.. I see my car turbo all the time..I just never see it built NA, come to think of it I dont see many NA builds at all anymore. My whole goal with the car is to build it, keep it classy, and keep it true to its roots(A classic mazda).. I dont know.. Im just very torn on what I should do.

I like NA much better than turbo, but for a high output NA you need a lot of displacement. Who said KL-ZE ? 2500ccm and 200hp in a V6 and to fit it you'll spend more money than on a full BP turbo rebuild.
Also you've got 4WD and that calls for a turbo (Impreza style).

If you're not drag racing than you shouldn't worry that much about the tranny, cause it doesnt tolerate launching, but I would in any case strenghten it as soon as money allows it, just to be on a safe side and it's cheaper to strenghten it, than to rebuild it ;)

Finally found a sweet spot to snap a new pic of the car.

I saw that pic on your sig over on CP and though it was pretty tight..it looks mean.

I mean I could build the BP to get me about 160-190 WHP NA.. yeah I know its about the turbo 4wd drive.. but why not NA 4wd? I used to own a subaru legacy GT, it had the big 2.5l na awd.. it was still pretty fun. Also..with the kind of driving I enjoy to do NA would prob be the better route for me to go.

160-190WHP, please tell the world your secret I bet everyone would want to know, especially with a AWD car.
Ok, enough sarcasam, you probably meant HP@crank ;)

Guys over here had problems making 170HP with NA on a BA, let alone 170WHP and thats with FWD which has less gearbox loss than AWD.

I think for your application NA would be better, cause driving a NA is more straightforward than with a turbo car which has turbo hole and turbo lag and you always have to check that you're in the right RPM. For that is easier with NA, but to get that kind of performance out of NA it will cost you as much, if not more than a turbo, to build a highspec NA and then you're stuck.
With turbo you have a lot more room to boost your specs, if you know what I mean.

I think with stiff valve springs, soild lifters, 10:1 compression pistons, a good bit of milling, new cams, headers, exaust, and megasquirt I should have no prob seeing atleast 160 to the wheels.

Default compression is 10.5 on a regular BP (115hp), on the 140hp is 11.0, with different intake cam. Header and exhaust maximum 15hp and with MS another 5-7hp... Your best bet is around 170HP@crank.
Because all the things you said, my friend did and without MS he got 162-3HP@crank.

I'll find the pics and post them.

alright. We might have different engines due to our location.. I know most BP here are 9:1. The 10:1 pistions I got came out of a miata BP they were never in the protege..I dont think I might be wrong, anyone know the answer?

The way it goes here also is.. the 115hp is a 1.6L BP. And the 140hp is a 1.8L BP.

youll never see that much awhp out of an na 4 cylinder without thousands

the jdm/edm motors are much less restrictive and have less emission equipment giving them more power

The way it goes here also is.. the 103 bhp is a 1.8l SOHC B8. In the 323 there is the 87 hp B6. And the 125hp is a 1.8L BP.
fixed

^what he said. Also the protege(90-94) and miata(94-95) had 8:8 comp. 96-98 had true 9:1. 99-01 had 9:5 and 2002+ had 10:1.

I may be joining you 1g guys soon. Found a 91 LX not far from me in good shape. The more I look at your cars, the more I want to go get it right now.
