possible first time swap

my p5 is currently built and boosted, running about 14 lbs daily pushing around 220.. blah blah, long story short my brother has his speed 3 totalled out, got hit.. he bought it back to part it out, he owed me some work for fabbing him a roll cage for his 69 camaro, he sold me his speed three 2.3 motor and tranny for $2,000 23k miles. dont get your panties in a punch but i am starting to draw out on paper what i will need and or fab. just thought id let you guys know... i will deff let you guys know if i decide to do it..

everythings possible. its no where near impossible. ya its not directly drop in, but with fabbing, metal and welding under my belt it can be done.. downfall is it still wont raise the value of the p5 lol oh well.. bright side is ill have 275hp stock. wiring for me will probably not be much of a worry. it will just be a time consuming project.. im hoping maybe this winter when i get my cummins rebuilt lol. runnin 55lbs on that b****!! haah

275 HP stock is a stretch, I'd say around 250 HP to the wheels after all is said and done.

ya probably. i would start stock and then do bolt ons and a tune after i got the kinks out. we will see.

i say go for it if you can do all the fab work and wiring yourself. yes it can be an expensive build if you have to pay a shop to do it. but if its your project and wont cost you a buttload of money. id like to see it done eventually. there will be haters...but owell.

if anyone from this or any mazda forum hates on that swap than they shouldnt even be on the forum lol. and yes if i had to pay someone to do the swap for me it wouldnt be worth it, it would cost more than the cars worth, but all in all i will not be spending a but load of money...

why dont u just use that money towards an upgraded lsd and tranmition gears and then ur protege would be faster then that ms3 motor would ever be. and there will be no fabbing at all. u said ur motor was built right?

my trannys welded, it wont break and my motors built. and 14 pounds of boost and a good tune and im at 220 and thats pushing it my dream is 350 it would cost alot more to get that out of this motor.. and why not? no one has done this swap. its sitting in my garage as we speak lol.

if you have a built block forged rods and all... why do you say 220 is pushing it? Thats only pushing it on stock craptastic block. A few people are pushing over 300whp with a built block without issue.

no ones has done it due to the costs of fabrication and other things. since he says he has the motor and trans and only paid 2,000 for it and can do all of his own fab work. id say hes off to a good start cost wise. it would just be more time consuming for him id say. plus other issues that would arise im sure. if it gets done AWESOME! it would quiet the haters and if it doesnt...they'll say told ya so. either way it doesnt bother me lol.

reason im pushing 220 because 1 yes it does have a built motor/ and 2... well its beat to s*** haha. its pushing 100k miles, still runs strong and good compression.. its my daily driver and i use it for work. so it needs to be as liable as possible. i could push a button and hook up the laptop and have over 3 but im not going to risk it anytime soon

im confused a little here.... you have a built block but afraid to really use it. Its a DD so your afraid to up the boost on it in case it might break because its your DD. SO you really cant have your DD go down for any period of time. However your going to take it out of commission for god only knows how long for the swap..... And am i reading that right that you have almost 100K on a built block?

I replaced the tranny in my cummins. Ill have to drive that while its down. I'm not doing the swap any time soon
