a friend of mine told me about this company called technosquare. they offer flashes for other mazdas such as the miata and rx7 and can develop programs for other cars. so if there's a brave soul in the torrance, ca area, perhaps someone could drop by and see if it's possible :). prolly worth a shot to those who are serious about going fast :D

cool socks....hopefully they can work around this ford crap. too bad torrance is like 3 hours away

I just talked with them, and they said if the feedback is good enough they will make it. The cost will be from 750-800 for one, and he says he can work out a group buy. I will be looking for a spare ecu around here to send to him.

whoa thats some bank. Especially when the mircotech comes out itll be priced at about 700.

Yea but with the regular ecu you will be able to operate the speedo, and pass OBD2 emissions that only tap into the ECU harness. Also the programming will be set. I think this is a good deal(even though its not a complete standalone), you can tell them what are the basics of your setup, and your programmer will make the changes.

Supposedly the microtech that is being developed will be similar to what your described above. Not sure on the detail, but Chris @ SPD racing (760-787-5759) would have more detail on the progress and what features it'll have and won't have.

i don't see the point in spending that much money on something like this that you can't change at all. i'd much rather not have to send out my ecu to get reprogrammed every time i do something. also you won't have the ability to fine tune.

but anything is better than what mazda stuck us with

hell can they just programm the ECU so it never goes into open loop (open loop is the bad one right) or closed loop which ever it is. so we can tune it better. then would the afcs and all those tuning devices work.

The tech is supposed to be calling me sometime this week. They dont speak good english so they might need to find the tech that does.

Fortunately the car doesn't speak english either... shouldn't stop them from tuning well.

After hearing all the trouble turboge had this sounds like the best bet for getting a working setup.

One of the best setups ive seen that could be a great option to reflash the pcm and give the user laptop tunability of thier own progam is www.superchipscustom.com not to be mistaken for superchips . this company does ford and has done mazdas also. thier setup gives you the ability to use the stock pcm as a standalone but ive mentioned this alot and no one but me seems interested so as soon as I can afford it I will try to get them to check out my msp pcm and set it up .
