Possible bent rod

Whats the easyiest fix for a bent rod just replace it and will there be any internal damage to the block i should be worried about. Maybe someone has had this problem can give me some ideas thanks

You can hear it knock and the mazda delarship said thats what it was I'm acctually buying this car from a friend to fix and drive. I'm very mechanically inclined. Anybody have any other ideas as to what i should do. My plan is to just tear the engine out and take the motor apart. I acctually drive a 04 srt-4 that i've done almost everything besides big turbo. I'm getting the protege for 6000 with all it mods and what not. Any help is much apprieciated

regardless, you need to pull the motor. so pull it out and see what you got. Do yourself a favor and go back with forged rods and pistons.

I will agree with rigit. Don't put stock rods back in. Get some forged rods along with pistons that will work with them. You lucked out with a bent rod rather than one that broke. Hopefully the knock isn't the rod hitting the side of the cylinder. If not, then a rebuild shouldn't be too bad. If it was contacting the cylinder wall, then you will have to have the block bored out and get oversized pistons to match.

Good luck with it. With stong internals the car can be FAST.

You can get the bottom end out of a probe, mx6, 626, or protege for less than $100 from most junkyards. I'd do that just to get it running and then rebuild the original bottom end while its out.

You dont need to pull the block out to check the rods...

Pull oil pan and the bridge plate and have a lookey..

well got it out can't really tell but i think its a spun rod bearing also discovered a dry axle boot

also i posted all the aftermarket parts for sale to offset the cost of the rebuild i'm just going to go all stock with this and resell when i get it back together it was a couple days work to pull the motor and what not as well goin to the shop tomarrow to get fixed
