Sounds like you have a f-ed up tranny.

btw, the parts on my suspension that were lubed up were the bushings (don't remember if I said that earlier).

have you tried checking you transmission fluid level. low or high fluid can really screw with how a tranny behaves. especially one as complex as the sport 5.

I'm pretty sure it is...I could probably sue for personal injury. lol That thing jerks F**KING HARD.
I could mention that to them when it goes up for some tests. Thanks!

Ok, where would that dipstick be?

i don't recall if the 3 comes with a tranny dipstick, if not there is a black or yellow plug where the dipstick goes, you remove that plug and insert a universal tranny stick, (remember i work at a dealership, we have a few) u also have to know what spec the fluid should be at. Chryslers are usually happy at about 40 to 45 on a universal stick, but it could be way different on a Mazda. tell the dealership to check your fluid level. tell them it intermittently shifts hard and acts funny.

They know damn well what I'm tlaking about, or at least they better. I mean they haven't ever felt MY car do it but they better know exactly what I'm talking about.
I'll tell them to check it when they are servicing it.

Furthers my theory...

My car is up at Mazda only for a tire rotation and the service manager gave me loaner to see if I could get it to do the same problems.
It doesn't but holy crap doe it have a shitload of it's own problems!
The loaner I got, I rolled over 8300 miles, it's a silver 2008 (not .5) Mazda3 Sedan S Touring with only the sunroof/6cd option.
It must be CA or something but this car has suspension like I have never felt on this car...more like mine when the car was brand new.
The transmission shifts smooth and doesn't jerk/grind/hesitate/stick.
So far it hasn't stalled on me.
The brakes don't burn.
The steering is weirder than mine but idk about that.
it pulls through turns better than mine...partially because the suspension is stiffer?
It's gear ratio seems to be better...my car does around 3250 at 80MPH, this does just under 3K at 80MPH.
I am getting much better mileage!!! Got about 24.8 average coming back from the dealer on the freeway (I activated the trip computer for them lol) and I'm getting about 21 in the city. This is up from 20av freeway and 17.5 city.
It's front tires have more trad than mine!!! Mine only have 5K on them!!! WTF?!?!?!?!??

The loaner car has problems though, even though it's a loaner I still noticed (besides it being absolutely FILTHY):
It grinds when you hit the gas from a stop. Just anytime it grinds.
there is a popping coming from the front end when you hit the gas in reverse. Pops when you turn, pops until you start going forward again. (should I be worried for my safety?)
The dashboard rattles. I think it's the glove box door.
The steering wheel is coming apart at its seam.
Engine clunks when you start it. Every time when it's been warmed up previously...interesting.
There was something else but I don't remember it.

I guess it isn't just my Mazda3 that has issues...I mean a couple of those seem pretty legitimate to me. I'm not gonna care though, I get my car back soon and get to share with them my newly found knowledge.
I still have to see how it starts in the morning from the garage and the driveway so I might have it for a few days...not totally sure though. This car makes me miss mine. I couldn't even get the 99 Volvo to make me miss my 3. Oh well, when you have the highest end 3, anything lower is just, eh.

Bottom line is that this proves my car has issues that need to be addressed. Although this car has issues that need to be addressed they are ALL different from my car.

(I also had a wonderful customer service experience while I was there. *note the sarcasm*)

your tires being worn could be attributed to several things

they arent the same tires as your loaner

and dont forget about your little launch thread, which would attribute to your tire wear.

have you considered making videos of all your problems?

I try my hardest to not break them loose.
Actually my tires are stock and the loaners tires are stock...Goodyear Eagle GS-A's! FTL.
Yea but I don't launch it or anything since that thread was created...and shortly afterwards, deleted.

I have, my main problem with that is that the problems are so intermittent that I would have to have the camera rolling everytime I get into the car and for the duration it drives. I have thought of that and it was brought up a few posts ago but there's no easy way to actually get that to work.

i think you should just cut your loses and trade it in for something else. go buy a colbolt or something and see what problems you have then. then trade that in for driving lessons and learn to drive! this guy is either a total tool, trying to get us going (which he did), or has the worst luck in the world!!!!!!

Thanks for your great advice! (fuoops)

I guess a couple week update is good:
Hopping on the freeway today I was on the on ramp doing 45 and hit the gas to pick up to about 65 and the tranny went to downshift...but it didn't...it cut power. So it like held its speed but wouldn't slow down or go faster, felt kinda like it was stuck inbetween shifting and couldn't go but suddenly it went out of stale mode and jumped on itself. This was at 430ish going into heavy traffic with a bunch of cars behind me and a rig coming up on me at 65...not the best way to get rid of the car but I'm definitely glad it jumped on the throttle.

So... Have you checked the trans fluid yet?
No. Mainly because I don't know the spec on the stick (I have checked) and I have to get out to Kragen and see if they have any dips I can use or buy.
get a lawyer or trade it in!!!!!!!!
I'm gonna see if I can get a Mazda engineer from Japan or something to come out and look at it first...but overall that's the plan.

Hahaha! I never think about checking that thing. Honestly, I always forget I have one...:p
I'll read it when I get home.

our cars do come with dipsticks....check the tranny fluid. owners manual will tell you how. if it is not within spec it is most likely the cause of your concern.

They get my car, look at it, and call me to tell me it's ready and they found nothing. They have never offered me another option other than me coming in to drive it with them which I can't do, I'm in school all day. There's no way I would skip class to go to Mazda and drive around with a tech to have them find nothing. It's just illogical.

I was trying to give you the benefit of the doubt, until I read this. For most individuals a car is the second largest investment they ever make. Protect your 20k investment, school will still be there tomorrow.

It's 'illogical' for you to complain about a problem and then refuse the dealers offer to come point out the sound to the technicion. I purchesed a 1992 bmw in 2002 and in seven years haven't made 18 trips to the dealer sans oil changes. This sounds like a case of opperator error. (chair)

Please just read the manual, pop the hood and open the trans fluid reservoir cap. You've complained about this and made multiple threads about the same thing yet you haven't done the simplest preventative maintenance. I'm at a loss for words.

If you think a Mazda Engineer is going to fly from Japan just to see your 2 year old automatic car, you're kidding yourself.
