Please help me decide on a ms3 or 06 sti

UPDATE:

I test drove both back to back, stock to stock. The speed 3 GT is nice. Interior is beautiful, exhaust drone is just right, drives good, no real complaints. It's a well made product. However, the sti is just more for me. Although subjective the sti to me felt like it pulled more and was more raw and the exterior is better for me. it's not as great as a DD, for the ms3 feels more refined and accomodating to DD. I know I'll have to fork more $$ out since warranty will not be there and it's an older vehicle.

Anyhow, this forum is great, very nice members and input. I haven't been here long but feel very welcomed. Thank you all.

The STi does feel a lot different. For one, it's AWD, so rather than "pulling" you forward, it's also "pushing" - it just feels different. For two, it makes full power in first and second and the MS3 doesn't. For three, there are no traction issues at launch. You're less likely to spin your tires on a hard launch than you are to glaze your clutch or torch a gear (although the STi tranny is pretty damn tough).

Hope you make up your mind and settle on the car that ends up making you happy.

I was in the same boat as the OP having wanted a sti since they first launched in this country. I actually wasn't even considering the ms3 until I went out to test drive a used sti next to a Mazda dealer. Walked over and took the ms3 for a test drive and was sold. It's all a matter of finding the car that will plaster a smile on your face every time you drive it. Now I'm just waiting for the construction bonus checks to come in so I can go pick mine up. If he gets the same joy from his sti as you guys (and soon to be me) do from your ms3s then I'm sure he will have no regrets.

I agree with the above thanks.

"Plaster a smile" - i agree, for some it's a convertible, others a v8 RWD muscle, for each their own. I'm sure you'll enjoy ur car, thanks.

I havent read every post here but also keep in mind if your purchasing a used sti there is a 90% chance its been driven hard. Buying a used evo or sti is pretty dangerous for a daily driver imo. STI would be very fun and they look nice but the interiors are lame . . . typical subaru interior. The interior designers for that company are morons . . . looked at a 08 wrx before getting my mazda . . . interior was something i would expect from a 1980 honda civic. Mazda interior is much more "fun" and appealing with nice finish and speakers. Definately more than what you would expect for that type of car. Anyway if none of that matters to you I would say go with the subaru. Its a faster car which seems like what your after. If subaru could shine a little light over from their engineering brilliance to work on their interiors . . . they would make a LOT more sales imo.
