Pinging issue

It might be the normal sound of the direct injection operating normally.

Well, I was hoping that was the case until I drove with my gearhead boss. He confirmed it. It sounds like ball bearings hitting metal part. I will try to capture this on video. I need to find a smooth road with no traffic so the noise is amplified.

Or, since it seems you have no trouble replicating the noise, you could just dispense with the theatre here and have the dealer properly diagnose/repair it.

I have the same annoying sound which is really blatant once the engine has warmed up and at 1500 rpm to 1800 rpm. And more so when taking foot off the gas as you don't hear the roar of the engine. Took it to the dealer and they hear it but don't know what it is. A couple of other cx5 s in for service had the same noise but not as blatant as mine. Still don't know what it is. Thee was talk about the injectors or turbo charger but that doesn't seem to be the case.

According to the "gearhead boss" ball bearings hitting metal noise, that should be fatal after several more months of additional driving.

hwibowo - Or did you take it to Mazda dealership service for proper diagnosis (since it is under warranty).
