Phoenix Needs a MSP for prototyping

Hey guys - I was talking to my buddy over at RM Racing. I haven't been keeping up with the specs on the MSP. Are they significantly different than the P5 and MP3 in regards to bolt-on mods?

If so, then RM Racing needs a MSP to prototype their rally line on. This person needs to be in the Phoenix, AZ area - which leaves out all you Canadians :)

Post on this board if you have any questions. They are prototyping my P5 for the same line of parts, but haven't done anything more than measurements right now, so I can't say how the experience has been other than that they are really good guys and they stick to their word. They told me almost a year ago that they would use my car for prototyping and next week I get my CAI installed! I'll let y'all know how good it is. I told them we'd need to see dynos, so I should be able to get that as well for the CAI.

Good to be back - it's been a while.

It may be hard for any of us to give up a car that we have been waiting so long for. I can't imagine that any of us would take delivery a car we have been desperately awaiting and then give it up for prototyping for X amount of months without even braking in the car.

I plan to enjoy the car not give it away as soon as I get it.

Of course this is my own opinion and others may be willing to do it to get a few free parts.

OOOOOH ouch

hehe, you're entitled to your opinion. For those of you who might want more details on the potential arrangement, here are a couple points of clarification:

1) Every time RM Racing has used my car, they have picked it up from my work, kept if for part of the day, and returned it before the end of my work day. No overnighters and certainly not for days on end.

2) For some people, those "few free parts" might be very valuable and considering the number of parts that RM Racing is developing for the Protege, I don't think "few" is an accurate word to use.

I'm not a RM Racing spokesperson or anything - I just don't want peeps to get the wrong idea because of someone's false assumptions.

By the sound of it, you took my post the wrong way. I apologize if I came off in a demeaning way but that was not my intention at all.

I was merely stating that I couldn't give up a car that I've been eagerly awaiting for prototyping purposes as soon as a receive it. Granted it would be a day like you mentioned but that would be one day too many for me because when I FINALLY get it, I plan on driving it every available minute.

Maybe it is an assumption on my part, but prototyping processes seem to have a bad conotation. You yourself said that you will be expecting a dyno of your new CAI to see your gains. RM will no doubt dyno the MSP before and after the fabrication of the part and what does that normally require - Redlining in either third or fourth gear depending on gear ratio (which I'm not familiar with Proteges). This may be something that us future MSP owners would consider down the line when our cars are broken in properly.

Again, I apologize if I came off the wrong way. It sounds like a good opportunity for someone if they choose to do it. All I was saying that it wasn't for me.

Good Luck and I hope you get good results from the RM products.

Mark> thanks for the clarification :)

azeli> Actually, I was calling around looking for someone to give me some price quotes on some of the mods I had planned that I didn't want to do myself. I happened to call RM Racing and hit it off with their head of sales. He mentioned that they were planning on developing rally parts for 6+ cars including the P5/MP3. They were going to take care of the Focus first (of course :bs: ) and then the Protege. That's where my P5 comes in. These guys normally do higher end cars such as ferrarris, NSXs and S2000s so they do know their shiznit. Right now, the parts I can rattle off the top of my head that they are mfging/reselling are short-shifter, header, catback, wheels, big brakes, rotors, CAI, and billet accessories. There's more on the list, but I have to talk to them again to clarify, because I'm not sure.

sorry, didn't read the post. Just noticed that you were in Phx. I may have seen you around. Where abouts are you?

YOU LUCKY BASTARD! :p

azeli> lol - yeah man, we'll see how well it works out

smp>nice mods man!

Good to see an MP3 around - we're trying to get together soon - check out the Registry forum.

I'm up around Greenway and 32nd st...silver p5 - no external mods, just took off that noisy roof rack.
