perrin fmic and turkey

do you have one of the older models w/the adjusterment on the outside?

Yep. I checked the BOV and it holds vacuum, but even with the screw all the way loose and the vacuum sources switched around I can't get it to even open...

Yeah, I think when you put a FMIC on it will have turkey. The only way to get rid of it is to do the dual bov setup.

old style as in its adjustable? try taking the bolt all the way old and take out the insert and lube it all up. could be somethin stuck in it.

I did lube it all up, everything took it right apart even, and it holds a vacuum so there's no leak in it...

the older style ssqv could be adjusted from the outside. for some reason they changed them and now theyre internally adjustable i think. retarded and i dont know why theyd do that.

but yea sounds like youve got a problem with yours maxx. you have normal 3/16 vac lines? yea course it isnt gonna leak because it wont open period. who'd you buy it from? im sure they might be able to help you out.

I have the older style, adjustable from the outside. I jsut picked up a brand new nonadjustable SSQV and I'll install it in about mins, so I will let youk now if that fixed it.

have fun with those c-clamps...i have an outward dent on my hood to remind me of how to make sure the clamp is all the way seated in the groove instead of just resting on the lip.....went for test drive after ssqv install first time i get into boost and shift pop. bov blows off literally and dings my hood.

I have the old style HKS but wish i had the turkey. Only get the Blow off and some turkey, guess it's coming from the top mounted external wastegate?

you want turkey? plug the vac line to your bov with a screw or something then youll get the turkey. ive discovered that the factory bpv in speeds is useless. i was redoing my vac lines today and was unpluggin/pluggin lines for my bpv and bov and the turkey is almost the same bpv or no bpv. i had the bov line plugged so it was mucho turkey bpv or not.

just tighten the bov all the way i used to have a old style hks on my car if i didnt loosen it all the way i got crazy turkey!

its not really bad. i mean every single msp that doesnt have a bov has compressor surge. you cant hear it stock, but when you put an intake on it acts like a microphone with all the metal piping and the filter. i mean the cars doing as it was designed. go watch a vid of a nice supra. they get compressor surge too but im assuming bc the bov they have cant release the air fast enough since they run an insane amount of boost. there was a guy in town here who had two bov's for his supra, said one just wouldnt get the air out fast enough.

Ya, it does happen stock, but it can shorten the life of the turbo dramatically. Basically, when you get compressor surge, the turbine wheel wants to keep spinning because exhaust is still rotating it, and the compressor wants to stop spinning. This puts alot of undue stress on th turbine shaft, and will snap it. I've seen it happen.
