Perfect Front Speaker Fit

I bought a pair of Pioneer TS-A6870R 6x8 3-way speakers for the front of my 2003 P5 and they fit perfectly. It doesnt list the protege as a a fit on the box, but they are a bolt on replacement for our stock speakers. The rain guards will fit perfectly as well, no cutting required. They are rated at 50w RMS each. Freq range 30-28k hz, 91db sensitivity. I got mine at walmart for 60 bux after tax. Huge SQ improvement over the siht stock speakers.

Here is a link to them:

Yea I guess the Pioneers' don't live up to everyone's standards, but I've got a HT I'd rather spend big bucks on. They'll do fine in a pinch, and are readily accessible for those looking for something a little better.;)

I used a pr. of Pioneer TS-A1654 2-way 6.5" speakers in the rear. I had to drill two holes in each door to get those to fit. The 3 bolt pattern on the rear stock speakers is very unusual, I don't know of anything aftermarket that will be a bolt on replacement.

They were around 50 dollars for the pair. I got them at Walmart also, but they don't have them on their website, you might try the store.

Please tell me you drilled the holes in the speaker collar/bracket and not the door of the car?

It doesn't really matter. You think 3 holes is bad!
Try cutting 6.5" speakers into the front of a civic. AIR SAW FUN BABAY! :D

What do you recommend for our cars in terms of speakers in the doors that will fit ok...... as in the BEST.

Pioneers are not bad for the money IMO, I had a set of 6x9s 4way coaxels in my old car and they sounded good, it's not going to win any SQ competitions but they were not bad.

I Can't really be that general.
It all depends on if you have the new proteges with the tweeter locations or if yoiu have and amp and even how you like your music. Some people like everything even other like bass overkill and other like to be assualted by tweeters. I have my favorite but they will not be the same for everyone and I do my best to keep all this in mind reccomending products to people.

Thats why if you ask me 1 question I tend to ask you 4

haha...your tricky!

MSP setup, no new amps. Maybe new tweeters and front speakers, as well as the ones in the rear doors. I think I already know what you'll say about the sub :)

I like a good sharp, but clean sound, not overpowering loud, I'm more about sound quality and zero distortion. I don't like a lot of Mid range in my stereo's. I'm the type that has always had an EQ in his car, you look at my EQ's, it's the classic W shape( or U depending on how your looking at it), with the Bass up high, Mid's at Zero, and treble up high as well. I'm the type that's forever tinkering with my sound whether it be watching TV through my Carver/Vega setup at home, or in the car. I drive the woman nuts :)

I guess I should probably ask this again once I get my speed, and play with the stereo more. I was just curious as to what the expert has to recommend for our cars.

I f I had the MSP and had a budget, lets say $500 and I was not going to upgrade more in the future. I would replace the front speakers with coaxle as I don't like the kenwoods sound at all. The JL TR coaxles would me my choice $150.
Then add a Alpine MRV-T130 for the front, $97.
Next that 8" sub would be history. JL CS112RG-W0 12" subwoofer in a box $200.
Just enough left over for some decent RCAs $20 and a 8 guage power wire kit $30.
