I am new to the tuner/Mazda 3 world and have some questions.

Just wondering if anyone has one of these http://www.umnitza.com/product_info.php?products_id=272&osCsid=15501e9eec4ad0e80d262b78567f317e and if so do you notice any difference?

I'm interested in upgrading the brake rotors to slotted and/or drilled. Does anyone know what is a good brand/price? i.e. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mazd...993704995QQcategoryZ33564QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
I think it's robbery what people are asking for upgraded brakes on these little cars. I just sold my Roush mustang. It came with Brembo 13" 4-piston brakes. The whole damn kit can be found for only $1k. Calipers, mounts, stainless lines, rotors, and pads..

I would also like to put a set of 18" rims on it. Maybe a lowering kit later after there is a camber adjuster made. What size tire can I get away with and not screw up the speedo?

Are there any other performance mods (less a turbo/n2o) that can be done?
What if anything do the grounding wires do?

Again don't flog me for my ignorance. I'm just used to 425hp rear wheel, superchaged, mustangs (sad2) I still miss her...

well i just ordered KVR drilled rotors and EBC Greenstuff brakes for all 4 corners for $575
i dont think there are break lines available for this car yet, or at least im not aware.
You can get 18" with the right offset and as long as the tires and the wheel match the original diameter you should be fine. I have 18" with 225/40/18 tires and it looks great. You can get some lowering springs from Eibach, H&R, Canuck Motorsports and others, from 1.2" to 1.6" or close to 2" drop.
You can also get a cat-back system from Borla, Magnaflow, Vibrant, Draxas and a few others, as well as headers from Draxas and Vibrant has a high-flow cat you can get as well.
If you want you can also get a CAI from AEM, Injen or K&N. I think getting all this stuff can set you back $2k - $2500 and it would be a good start.
after this you can go with the turbo, upgrade the clutch and flywheel, get some forged internals and what not.
Obviously what i have said above is what im aware of, there maybe other manufacturers that i forgot to mention; also keep in mind that im fairly new on this forum and i could have ommitted other parts available.

Daaaamn...Nice car!!!

as far as rims/tires suspension, I am also running 225/40r18 and a sportline drop (almost 2 inches). Looks great, but if you have smaller than a 48 offset and correct camber, you may rub. I know because I have 47 offset and do not think I can correctly fix my camber because of it. To check on tire sizes, go to http://www.powerdog.com/tiresize.cgi and enter stock size (use 225/40r18 format) and it shows comparisons in width, diameter, speedo, odo, etc.

Welcome! That sure is a nice mustang. I really like the 2 tone paint.

If your looking for SS Brake lines, i can help ya with those.
http://www.mazda3forums.com/index.php?topic=14384.0

Mazdaspeed has a nice damper kit that will go well with most lowering springs out and they also have a rear camber kit. It's non adjustable and the Mazdaspeed springs are a 1.25" drop.

hmm i wasnt aware of brake lines available. im gonna see if i can spare the money. it sure would be nice since im going to be changing all rotors and pads, might as well change the lines and make it an all new brake system.
:)
can we get a GB here? i know some people are not members over there and i think there would be enough interest. I know because many people get their rotors and pads from a couple of vendors here and they dont offer brake lines.
what do you say?

as far as other performance upgrades, mazdaspeed offers a lighter flywheel and clutch combo for faster revs, and cosworth (who built the bottom end of the mzr2.3) is working on seeing what parts they have that can bolt up to mazda's internals, etb, and head with vtcs and all the other mazda bells and whisltes... they have some great n/a kits for the focus 2.3.... they are also working on some cams i believe. the only other site i would suggest to look at for performance would be www.srmotorpsorts.com they are a bit pricey but do offer things that other companies don't offer as of yet.... (light weight pulleys for one!!!!) also some stiffer motor mounts are in the works and some other companies are supposed to be offering products soon... i would steer clear of brake stuff on ebay have heard stories where people paid and then waited 60+ days and had to get their money back, the company had no problem giving the money back, its just they are selling stuff they don't actually have....

For the tire size check the diameter specs on www.tirerack.com. The stock 205/50-17 RS-A are 25.4" in diameter, you stay close and the speedo and computer should be fine.

Umnitza is a chilidish company from everything Ive seen of them..

Racing Brake( www.racingbrake.com) has really inexpensive and what appear to be high quality brake rotors. $400 for like all four corners.

I recommend checking out www.draxas.com
www.cvrmotorsports.com and www.ptuning.com They all carry great parts for the Mazda3...along with www.mazda3online.com if you want a turbo.

Thanks everyone for the info (wiggle)
Is M3Online the only place to get the turbo kit? Is there another kit available? Anything/anywhere cheaper? (uhm)

right now we are Juan's primary authorized vendor for the mazda3 turbo kit. call me if you want a package deal on the turbo kit and some other parts together and I will be willing to put a discount together.

Ken

There is also a turbo other than the one from Hiboost done by Hass. I'm not sure what all the differences are though

Thanks! I'm not quite ready to drop that kind of cash on my rice burner, yet. (wink)

specs? link? price?
anything?

I dont have any links, $3995. It uses a GT28 turbo if I remember correctly. There are other options with it also, some are like exhaust, injectors, some sort of water cooling system, etc. Fairly comparable in power gains I believe. 255hp/240tq at 7psi. They expect 280 w/3" exhaust.

EDIT: here is a link for a forum discussion about it

cool! thansk for the link.
interesting stuff to read, i would like to get a good discussion going once dust has settled. i dont want a flame war but a nice comparison chart.
oh... maybe when tax return season comes around i'll be ready.

yeah, that sounds about right. The power seems pretty similar so far, so we have good competition going on so far! booya

the hass kit is supposedly slightly easier to install, other than that the are neck and neck numbers wise

How do you figure it is slightly easier to install?
To me it is like choosing a Chevy over a GMC both having the same options?
But in my case one was complete and tested for a while.

from what i heard you don't have to tap the oil pan for a oil return line. could be wrong though. other than that it's the same
