Ok this is for people with the FULL Turboback Exhaust (e.g. You have a GHL MUFFLER)

What i want to know is, if you noticed if since you installed it, if it got exponentially louder.

However, if you have a leak then tell me cause this wont help, as leaks can cause resonation/loudness.

These guys have Excellent customer service, and are trying to help me figure this out and today i found out im not the only one but im the only one who has told them. So i want to see if there are others with issues

I know about the hangars breaking, but they added a flex pipe to the downpipe so that should be fine now.

i think every car i've had i have modded the exhaust is some way or another (even welded an actual coffee can onto the exhaust of a 90 corolla winter beater i had to make fun of the plethora of civics in the area (rlaugh)) and there always (besides for that corolla lol) has been some breakin time before you get the full sound out of it - seems to be 1-2k miles or so depending on how much exhaust you do... so i guess yes from my experiance it gets louder for a few months but then it hits a high point where it doesnt get any louder

right i agree. i had them make me one specifically quieter, and it got louder than the original ahahah. i dont think personally it should resonate like it does (it gives me headaches). i can see if it was catless with a N1 muffler but i have a resonator and a cat.

how exactly did they make a quieter one for you? different muffler? stuffed more packing into the muffler (if that's possible)?

not sure what they did, it was freakin quiet tho, for a 3". i think the openings inside were larger where the sound goes through. this time there gonna figure out whats wrong and make it quieter again. i dont mind loosing some hp cause at 300whp a few hp wont bother me if its quiet. its funny cause they keep sayin 3" straight through is loud. and i definately understand that, but the quiet one after 2 wks sounded like my 3" catless N1 exhaust, it shouldnt even compare in my book.

ic, interesting. ya know, hks had a prototype exhaust with an electronic valve that could control the sound level.....i wonder if something like that would be possible for you?

well if this doesnt work im not sure what im gonna do, i may do the quiet stock exhaust w cutout thing but selling the GHL around here i wont recoup cause no one has moneys :) plus i dont believe in giving up easily, i love the exhaust its pimp

I've check everything 2-3 times for leaks, plus I got the kartboy hangers...everything good. It sounds the same as first installed. I'm very happy with the sound except the in cabin "Dronnnnnn" is making me crazy! Took at a long trip to New Jersey and tried to keep it under 3000 rpm cause my head was starting to pound after 2 hours of driving. I just love it though...with the window down going in a tunnel reaching 4-5000 rpm..the rumble is insane, just makes me smile everytime. It's a love/hate thing but worth every penny!

hahah yea i hear u on the drone. i think id miss it too.

they can make a quieter muffler for 100.00 ish (call them for actual price), you send in yours and they weld a new one one. thats waht i paid at least for the quiet one since its kinda an anal thing rather than an actual issue heh.

My GHL is awesome except for the droning at anything above 3K RPM'S, and yes mine does actually sound quit a bit louder then before, and this is actually my third muffler section from GHL, (which may be louder then the first two, if thats possible) thought about downgrading to something quieter, but GHL'S customer service is the best.....

yea im in the same boat. they just get louder and louder. they cut open my muffler and said it looks brand new inside so i dunno. they said tehy can make it even smaller internally (2") but i dont want to go that small. id rather just get a sp2 if im goin that small lol. so i dunno. im at a crossroads i guess. i cant deal with the interior sound level and they dont have a baffled muffler so im not sure what i should do.

i remember a while back, some people thought about using dynamat or other sound-deadening material and lining the trunk with it to cut down on in-cabin noise. i think it's the same kind of material people use when they have huge sound systems in their cars. maybe an option?
