PCM and 1/4 mile

I'm just curious if having the PCM reflash would help the 1/4 times at all. I know it just came out a couple of days ago but I would like your thoughts.
Being that 1st gear depending on what rpm you launch at it would help... But 2nd gear when shifted will drop down to 4,500k rpm. Do you know if this 4,500k rpm - 5,200k rpm will help out any for the 1/4 mile. 3rd gear shifted will end up in 5k rpm. So it seems to me that the 1/4 mile times might acutally stay the same or be up to .2 secs faster if even that.

I've been thinking this as well...but I wanna see a dyno before I make any speculation.

Dyno on your car.. ? They do have the Dyno on Chijon's car from the PCM reflash. He had mods to it though..

That midrange grunt is gonna be great...I don't think you drop to 5k...It's more like 4-4.5k. I'm sure it'll knock the car stock into the high 14s. Don't expect any monumental changes...there isn't a jump in peak numbers, really...just in that midrange, but that'll help you get where you need to be much faster. My guess is that that run on the dyno was a 3rd gear run, and you should get through that pretty fast now...we may actually pick up another shift. This is all speculation, though...I'll let you know in a couple weeks when I go hit the drags w/ 1st MP3

Drags ? do tell.....Where? When?

Seems as though if it's raining do they cancel the auto-cross?

I feel like the 1/4 times will be effected but not by much.

Well now! Here's the question to be answered!

I'm already runnin a 14.3 1/4 mi.All I have done is my MBC and the Apex 2.5 inch D/P.How will this affect me.I run it at about 12-13psi to get this time.I know if I get the ECU Flash that I will hae to turn it down for the street ,BUT if I run it with the colder plugs and turbo blue at the track with it set somewhere between 10-12psi,WHAT WOULD MY TIMES INCREASE,if any?
Answer that one.
You guy's are doing all this speculation on a stock car but not yet speculating on a modded car like mine.

Thanks for the info. 3rd gear i do drop down to only 5k rpm. Try it out. Thats why im all worried that it won't do anything. shifting to 2nd is were you get 4.5k rpm.

Well...judging from what Shawn's car is doing at stock psi w/ similar mods to yours, if you're careful at 12psi I can imagine you losing more traction and losing time! :D Actually I think you should be fine, but I wouldn't spike past 10 too much w/o really tuning the beast in a safe environment.

I can see your time possibley breaking into the 13s if you can keep traction, though. You'll probably run similarly to what you are now, but faster through the midrange. The power band shouldn't change...just the actual power output. but if you really want to do it (hit 13s), you *will* have to go full engine management...One way or another.

oh...and how'd that part from across the planet turn out for you?

Yeah if it's raining we'll cancel...which blows. Sunday *was supposed to be nice*

As for the drags...I'm still organizing, but it'll be at Epping in NH on the friday before our meet...I'll post something as we get closer.

I know that right now I would be in the 13's if I had a set of slicks!I lose that much at the line and through half of second gear.On a roll I know this to be at least a high 13 sec car!As for the worrying about the 10 plus PSI,I don't think so!I have run as high as 15 psi on the street on pump gas with the stock IC and plugs with no hint of detonation. Now,If I get the Flash,The colder plugs WILL go in and the boost WILL come down but how much is the question?I think with race fuel that I can still safely acheive the 12psi with the A/F ratio this car puts out WITHOUT the need for a full stand alone. My goal has always been to get this car into the 13's.Once it is there,I AM DONE WITH ENGINE MODS!I think that this flash may be just what I need to acheive it but only time will tell.As for the part,NEVER GOT IT?I DUNNO?

So back to my question... What do you guys think about the PCM reflash? Does your rpms really drop that much down to the hesitation rpms?

Even if they don't drop to hesitation RPMS the range from 3500-5000 has 15-17 hp more pretty consistently. Not to mention gobs more TQ.

VERY TRUE!
I see higher Trap speeds becoming the norm on stock MSP's and not a big change for the modded ones!
I would not be surprised to see a 2-4 MPH trap spped increase in stock trim.
My .02 cents
