Painting MSP rims....

This bronze wheel is a very glossy finish, more shine than I thought, but I wasn't disappointed at all when I first saw them with my own eyes. They are 17" +42 offset with 205/40/17 Ecsta MX tires, and I haven't had a problem at all. I also have a 2" drop on the car too. I think that the bronze on silver looks awesome. I bought this wheel in this color because next year, my car will be Spicy Orange, and I think this color will look great on orange as well. Here's another pic:

I think Duplicolor discontinued the bronze paint so good luck on finding any. It used to be near impossible to get some, now I think it is just impossible. I might still have a can or two left but that is just enough to touch up my Racing Harts. I do think bronze on the Titanium would look excellent though.

the place i went to get the paint had bout 2 or 3 cans of the bronze. I wonder if they will let me trade paint?? I think i am going to go with the bronze... tomo is PAINT DAY

thank you falango... i think i will paint the 16's that color, my only fear is them looking small now that they're not black... black wheels look big because the wheel and tire are both black so it's hard to tell apart. but the 16's in bronze might look small... i also would not want mine glossy but definately that exact color... good luck everyone!

May as well do the bronze. Gunmetal isn't really all too different then what the wheels came like stock.

dude you should paint them bronze (2thumbs) because the titanium paint will be set off even more . darker rims painted gunmetal would look cool on a yellow msp

Anyone that paints their factory wheels with a spray paint is out of their damn minds. Unless they were beat to hell anyways and you have nothing to lose.

Do you know how much those wheels are? And you are going to paint them with $25 worth of paint? I give it 6 months before it starts flaking off and peeling.

Honestly, sell them, get another set of wheels. The 2003.5 wheels are superb, and their finish very durable. You'll never ever get the same results from any spray paint. Even power coating won't give you factory results.

You are simply nuts :)

I would say do whatever, but I have a couple of suggestions.

1. Just wet sanding isn't going to give you the bite you need for the new paint to stick. I use scotch-brite pads to knock the shine off whenever I paint something metal.

2. That duplicolor clear is going to look like s*** if you don't wet sand and buff the s*** out of it. I would suggest talking to your local auto painting shop and see how much it would cost to have them spray a 2 part clear on them when they are clearing a car in the booth. That clear will flow out much nicer and require less wet sanding and buffing to get a nice glossy shine.

3. If you don't want a nice glossy shine, ignore suggestion 2:D
