paint peeling issue? UPDATED

just thought i'd create a thread to see if anyone else was having the same issue....on the bottom side of my trunk lid...when open...the bottom corner on the driver side....my paint has peeled off. so when the lid is shut it would be the corner closest to the glass. there is nothing to rub up against it there to make it peel. manufacturer defect perhaps? anyone else having the same issue?

around the front fender wells... close to the wheels..

had to stop it with loc-tite glue..

mazda OEM paint is a POS.

well i took it in to the dealer today to see if i could get it covered under the extended warranty. mazda canada said if it was a manufacturing defect then they'll cover it however dealer says extended doesn't cover paint and whoever i spoke with is misinformed......??? they took pictures anyways to send to mazda canada....waiting to see what happens....

however, it's not just the paint that's peeling.....upon closer inspection i noticed that it's rusting......the entire bottom lip of the trunk lid has paint bubbling....it's basically along the entire seam and about half way up the sides as well when the lid is open.

between this, my coolant leaking issue, other issues i've had with this vehicle and all the dealer issues in the past i can confidently say i'll never buy a mazda product again.

Your not the only one, mine is rusted the whole length of the trunk lid. where the glass meets the lid!! Mine is out of warranty(cryhard)

another update....

spoke with the dealer today and they said mazda canada states that if the rust has completely eaten through the metal then it's covered for up to five years and surface rust is only covered for up to three.........why they aren't accepting this as a manufacturing defect is beyond me.......looks like i'm up s*** creek on this but will still try and argue with mazda canada.....

i guess i'll be forced to buy a carbon fiber lid now....sure as hell won't buy an oem replacement....i'm done giving any more cash to mazda....never again...

Anyone has rust starting from the base of the spoiler? I just uncovered my first spot of paint peel... Enduring it this winter and going to look for a carbon one next summer unless shaving + paint would be better??

spoke to mazda canada today.....said they'd assign my file to someone and have them call me back within 3 business days......let's see what happens now.....

Likely nothing....Mazda likes to fight every claim they get...They are a PITA to deal with.

got a call from mazda canada today.....were no help at all....just kept saying that rust is covered under the 3 year warranty and it has to be perforated in order for it to be covered under the 5 year extended........mazda's loophole.... of course it'll rust right thru if left long enough.....but five years...come on....i've had the service manager at the dealership agree and two independant body shops as well that it's a manufacturing defect.....

so why doesn't mazda stand behind their product and their screw up??? i'm done with mazda as i've stated before.....i've spent more time arguing with dealers than driving my car.....i'll buy a carbon trunk lid and call it a day but never again will i buy a mazda.
