2016~2023 Paint Bumper Trim w/ Quality Chrome Paint?

Has anyone removed the black trim on their S or Touring trim CX9s and attempted to paint them with a quality chrome paint? I've read in other threads that the pieces just snap on and off. Not sure how true this is. And instead of buying the pieces from Mazda for 5x the price of a $44 chrome paint, I'd rather go the cheap route now for the Sig look. And if it turns out badly I'll buy the real trim pieces.

Wondering if anyone else has tried this?

A few people on this forum have done the opposite. Painted the chrome slats black. I have not seen anyone attempting to chrome the lower trims. I am not sure if the touring trims have plastic pieces that snap on the slats like the chrome trim does, or if they are just slats without the clip on trim piece.

If you are talking about the bottom pieces, the front one is fairly easy to remove. But the rear one is missing i believe. You can search this forum for the people that have replaced their trims with the GT or signature trims to get an idea of how hard or easy it is to remove.
