I have a small spot on my roof, passenger side, about 4 inches up from the windshield where there is a spot about the size of quarter and the paint is bubbling. When I went in for my recent service I mentioned this concern and after pickup they told me it was not covered and tried to blame it on a rock chip, even though there was no chip in the immediate area. I left angry and wrote an email to the Dealership manager, the sales lady and to the service manager explaining my anger and how this 2008 vehicle should not be displaying problematic paint issues (note I also had the rust on the tailgate which they painted under warranty). I went in length about getting my service done there as well as buying winter tires etc. The service manager called me back the next day and said they will warranty it, he said that "the roofs of these CX-9 have a very light paint coat on them" and the good news is that when it's repainted it will be thicker and be more thorough. That sounds pretty bad, perhaps they need to rethink their painting process....
Just a heads up, glad I'm getting it redone, but I'd be checking your roof.
