P5 Top Speed?

I'm curious what the top speed of a stock P5 is. My speed-o goes up to 140 MPH but I know that's not going to happen. I'm thinking that there's a cut-off that will govern the car around 115 MPH or so. Does anyone know?

There is a couple threads with this same question....use the search button. But anyways, no, the P5 is DRAG limited, no actual engine governer/fuel cutoff except the rev limiter. The fastest i got mine going was about 128 MP/H

I took it to 100 MPH and by the feel of the car I felt that it could go to 120 MPH...

do a search there is many topics on this, ive gone over 140 slightly so has many. its all about gears there is no limiter only fuel at like 7100 or somthing. i have a stand alone fuel managment system so it dont effect me.

but yes mine hit about 143

i dun get it... mines stock and i cant get above 118, but yall who have done stuff to the cars have gotten to 140's, but when im at 118 my revs r near 6000... hmmm o wait nvm nvm

i didnt really stare at the tach as i dont want to die hitting something in the road but it was between 6200 and 6400.

keep in mind im running 10 pounds of boost.

there are pics of people doin 130 140, just search.

I got about 118 out of my 5 speed PR5 and about 130ish out of the Mazdaspeed, but snaped the pic to soon.

i think those P5's getting that 130 thing with help(boost, etc etc), r auto? someone please confirm, im a manual and most i've gotten was 118, and im rev'n high, and it pisses me off buz i dont like not being able to go 130+, POS

Don't believe the hype!! The P5 is drag limited at 118MPH. That's actually the fastest top speed published for the P5...I've seen ranges from 112-118. The car just doesn't have enough ponies under the hood to overcome drag.

Turbo...I'll buy 130+. But keep dreamin allday about the P5 doin it all motor.

um we are stating the 130-140 plus range as a modded p5 not a stock p5.. please read before you realize your post was pointless. stock p5 can get to 120 with time and a good wind in your favor. you add boost and its very easy. in fact i have to watch my speed all the time because if i am on the highway and i get pedal happy (which i do alot) i will get to 100 and seem like im doin 65... at 100 with boost it just climbs like mad... but you dont have the boost like me so therefore you wouldnt know

and well we aint braggin we hit 140 plus, 140 is still slow. people asked what we hit, we replied. peace- trav

I have gotten the rider up to 129, and only mods I've done are CAI and cat-back. So it's not impossible.

Oh, and I have a stick too.

DUDE THATS AWESOME i didnt even think about doin that to capture speeds. i will have to have my laptop hooked up when i go driving again and have all my stuff recorded with my haltech. that gives me many ideas.

and about the question, it was answerd with stock by others and if i asked the question about what it can do stock and got some posts of modded cars i would have appreciated the info to see what the modded ones are running over stock to get a comparison.. im sure mtmbiker26 didnt mind the extra info on the thread.

also as you realize you are also incorrect about even STOCK can do. there are many that have went over 120 pure stock and not your so called drag limited 118. im glad i dont learn from just reading and believing from what a mag tells me... look where it got you.

Don't be mad cause you wanna use this thread to brag about what you say your car can do. My point was that you did not answer his question...and no one asked what your car could do. Stay on topic.

I didn't determine the top speed of the car...physics did. You can like it or not...but 118MPH is the highest top speed tested in the P5. If you get to 120MPH going downhill...that's not an accurate gauge of what the car will do.

Don't be fooled by the number of posts I have, I'm no newbie. This is my second protege in ten years. I more than familiar with the car and what it can or cannot do.

It's funny you question the benefits of reading and doubt what others write, then expect people to believe the s*** you post on here.

Post a pic or a video of your miraculous 140+MPH run. I bet we will never see it. Let that be a testament to the amount of s*** being talked on this board.
