Yes I have one
I know there was some discussion before on if the MSP/MP3 shifter was nothing more than a stock P5/Pro shifter with the top piece removed. Well if there was any debate let there be no more. As you can see in the pic below the MP3/MSP shifter is shorter. True the throw is the same, but the shaft from the pivot ball to where the boot sits is about 2-3" shorter.

the throw wont be the same...i can vouch for that when i hacked another inch off my B&M...

Thought everything from the pivot ball down determined the throw. The longer it is, the shorter the throw.

yes but shifter length also factors in. think about it

its just simply gonna be shorter.

damn the forum ****** up my little diagram...anyways, itll be a little shorter i promise. i noticed a HUGE difference when i hacked that inch off.

It's true that the length of the shift lever below the fulcrum point determines the "throw" of the mechanism. As you point out, this length is the same for the sedan/P5 and the MP3/MSP shift levers. However, the length above the fulcrum point also has an effect since your hand on the shorter lever moves through a smaller arc when shifting.

I can confirm this. I just replaced my stock shift lever in my sedan with the MP3 lever. I also have the Kartboy shifter bushings. My shifter now feels quicker with less play in the mechanism. One final point is that I'm also using the MP3 shift knob which tends to be a bit tall. It looks to me that the Sparco knob used on the MSP would allow your hand to sit even lower on the lever effectively shortening the movement a bit more.

For me, this was a worthwhile mod that definitely makes the car more fun to drive.

Yeah I just installed the MP3 shifter and knob in my P5 last night. Hence the pic I took. Also added the Kartboy bushing. There is a big difference in shifting. I was just going by what I read in another thread that the length below the pivot is what effects the actual shifts. Maybe I read it wrong.
