P5 Pocket Q - if not stock, which is best?

I got a quote from my friendly (sarcasm) Mazda dealer for $125 for the MSP pocket. I ordered the support bar and screws for a staggering $30. The local audio shop suggested the Best Kits universal pocket. Do not make the same mistake I did. It's crap, doesn't fit, and looks like junk.

If no one out there has a pocket for sale, which aftermarket pocket fits and looks the best? Metra or Scosche?

I absolutely refuse to pay $125 for a $3 pocket.

It's a damn shame they don't make a Mazdaspeed P5. Would have bought it in a heartbeat. Now I am stuck upgrading everything.

the pocket came up as 90.80 when i told them mine got stolen. still a rip off for a block of plastic.

my pocket is out of an 01 vw. fits perfect and got it free out of the trash at work (mazda/vw dealer). it's probably expensive if you try to buy it though.

If the MSP pocket is the same as the one in the MP3s... you can get the pocket from Mazda Stuff for about $75 (I think that is what I payed)

Yeah it was pricy... but it was also "plug and play". The pocket is also found in some other 3rd gen Pros that did not have the double DIN HU... so you might want to take a gander over to the junk yard and see what there is. I got a second pocket (I'm working stuffing some electronics in it) off of a PCub member that got it at the yard for about 30 bucks.

if you are taking about the pocket to go under the single din hu. then go to sounddomain.com and order the ma1537 its will replace it and its about $10

Thanks for the advice. I am contacting mazdastuff for a price, and if it's too high, I'll check into the Scoshe kit.

yeah... but that does not have the cool little door... now that I have the Mazda pocket all the other ones do not look right to me

But then of course... 10 bucks means I could have spend a whole lot of money on beer instead of a bunch of plastic bits
