P5 howling/air sucking noise

So it's been about -30C here the last couple days and I've noticed my car making a pretty loud whooshing noise under the hood. Doesn't matter if I'm on the gas or not.

It's not the air for the ventilation system, it's a deeper sound, coming from under the hood.

Any ideas? I've heard it when it's been warmer too, but not as often, and then only when I'm off the gas.

Only mod is k+n drop-in.

Two Questions

1. Did you close the air box properly when you dropped the K&N in? Hee Hee.
2. What's it sound like with the hood open? Since you can hear it when the engine is warm and you are off the gas, you should be able to listen standing outside with the hood open. Jim

Pretty sure I closed it properly - I've had it in there almost a year and the noise only started happening. I'll take a look though...maybe something's clogged with ice or loose.

I've never heard it at idle, only while speeding up or slowing down.

it's crazy how cold it is
i parked at the parking lot for 4 hours only
but the car did not start at the first 3 times i turn the key
the 4th times start the car..but the starting noise is "weak"..what i mean weak is like normally we start out car and we get a "VROOM" noise...don't know what happen
my car is stock...didn't touch anything~~
is it the weather WAY too cold?

The only reason I'm liking the cold is because I value my new car starter that much more....when it was +2 last week I thought I had thrown away my money with all this global warming crap.

hey i live in minnesota and i have the same problem it started with my k&n filter too. Now i have an aem intake same crap i think its just normal just when cold???

its only in the 30F range here in texas and i get kind of a whistle at full throttle...maybe someone turboed my car without telling me ;) in my dreams
