P5 Exhaust Q&A

Wow that does look pretty good. I tryed looking for video with sound clips but some of the posts are a few years old and didn't work. Thanks for the picture.

If you want quiet with a nice, deep sound, you can't beat a Racing Beat cat-back. If she can wait until spring, I may be getting rid of mine :D
How much do you think you will want for it?

Double Skorch's Magnaflow comment. Have the CBs on both my P5 and wife's ES. Very deep and mellow. And quiet as well. Still have header and down pipe to install ala Skorch. We'll see what happens after that...

I have to say that I love the sound of my car now. And thats even tho it sounds a little loud and ricey. When I go under an overpass, I feel the need to punch it, just to hear the exhaust echo. If I drove lots of long distance trips, I dont think this would be the setup for me. But for my 20 minute commute every day, it is perfect. To me, it sounds just like one of the Tri Point cars. Well, maybe not quite that loud. :)

Another vote for the Racing Beat. Quiet enough, but distinctly different from stock. And the tip isn't a damn coffee can.

Anyone know of someone with the Greddy Evo exhaust on their car? I am looking all over the place to find a picture of the back bumper to get an idea of what it looks like. I know that it is big and I already saw a side profile, now i just want to see the back before i decide weather or not i want to get it.

I just got my Mazdaspeed axleback exhaust installed today. Very simple, straightforward install...except for those damn rubber hangers. Some WD-40 solved that. :)

Anyway, while it obviously can't compete with a full catback, for the price, I'm really liking the Mazdaspeed. It's quite a deep, throaty tone. Sounds very good idle and with minor to moderate acceleration. Getting up to highway speeds though (up past 3-4k on the tach) and it will hum, you'll know its there. I'm a kid though, so perhaps I like a slightly louder exhaust. ;) Either way, it has a great tone and looks fantastic.

For $150 (plus free S&H from Mazdastuff.com), I'm very pleased.

I installed the racing beat cat back exhaust on my pro. 5 a few weeks ago completely by myself.......fantastic fit and finish and sound.....deep and not too loud.......looks like factory fit....transforms the whole car and it seems to inprove the throttle response.......fantastic!!!!!!!

Agreed. A bit pricey compared to some of the others mentioned, but the quality, fit and finish, and sound (i m o) can't be beat.

i wanted the same , good looks and great sound, a little better performance.. this one is off an MSP and you have to get the tip cut off and shorted about 5-6 inchs.. but its not loud and has a very deep vroom to it ..
