P5 ECU messing with my alarm!

Sup guys,

I did the P5 ECU swap this weekend, and all is well. The retard in the timing has done wonders for the turbo setup. But just one thing... My alarm is wigging out on me! It doesn't set correctly, and makes a very loud honk everytime I set it.

Any ideas?

didn't your alarm honk before with the MP3 ecu? the loudess of the honkisn't assocated with the computer. They may be a periodic voltage senton some wires with the P5 not seen on the MP3. Alot of new cars do things like this on the Door wires and even the dome light.

Does it honk when you push the button once or twice? It should have always honked on the second button push.

Yes, it's on the second button puch but it's the LOUD honk that usually comes only when you set it after it's already sent... Not the regular double honk that you get when it's originally set. I've tried it on both alarm settings as well. Any ideas?

This may be a little too simple, but make sure all of your doors and trunk are completely closed. I am not sure if the factory alarm has any kind of indication of whether a zone has been left open, but it is worth a shot. Just trying to look for the simple answer.

Ok the story is only getting wierder... I tested my alarm out this morning on both modes and all it will do is flash it's lights like crazy.. There is no sound when the alarm goes off. The doors lock though. BUT there is sound when I activate it twice, you know the loud "BEEP!"

any ideas??

Does your alarm system have valet mode? If so, it will not make a peep when in that mode. Check your manual. I have put mine in valet mode before several times by accident.

Yes,

I've tested it in both modes. I'm not sure what it was "supposed to do" in Vallet mode, but regardless it isn't making noise in either at this point in time. I guess I'll just have to listen for the BOV when someone steals it. :'(

Depends on the Alarm system you have. I have an aftermarket alarm.

Yikes!! My horn works.... But the alarm makes no noise when it goes off, the lights just flash like nobodies business. loose wire?

could be sounds like you fried something, Did the P5 you got the ecu from have an alarm with keyless entry?

IF the alarm in your car is like the one in our P5, then it is actually and alarm that is not integrated into the ECU. It is actually a seperate brain mounted up under the dash. I believe the alarm in the P5 was made by Code Alarm. Is your LED lit up solid red? Have you tried disconnecting the battery to reset it? Just a few thoughts.

This sounds like te aftermarket alarm you can have installed once you buy the car. You pay the dealer but they pay a local stereo shop to install it. A few Of the guys i work with used to work at another shop that did most Manchester delaerships installs.
