Ok if I could somehow get this cars paddleshifters and tranny in the P5, that's the key!!...

UDP, intake/header/exhaust, motor mounts. That'll make it feel like a stock manual p5.

with the exception of the third pedal. and the lever. and the fun.

ok, that was mean. but i'd agree that those mods make the auto p5 feel much better all around. i'll vouch that zath here is able to chirp the tires from a launch now where he could not do that before.

with a std. transmission you control the engine rpms giving you more control, more power and more torque.

you drive the car, the car does not drive you like in the auto.

= a very loud car

??? My exhaust isn't very loud. I don't know where you're getting that idea from.

As for driving the car, that's a highly arrogant remark. Everyone knows that there are no cars yet that drive you (except in the movies/tv shows).

I wanna see a stock manual and a stock slaptronic auto run against each other! would the manual spank every time? Wonder how close it would be?(rockon)

im not gonna lie, i drive my auto p5 like a madman, and it feels pretty darned fast for me. but i dont let it do its automatic thing that much. when im feeling the sporty groove, ill shift it manually and keep the revs up a little bit.
then i can get it up to like 90km/hour in just second gear on the offramps heh, flick it into 3rd and keep goin.

funfun.

i know ill kill it, but hopefully the bands dont snap before i upgrade them. would give me a good excuse to pull the whole unit and upgrade the TC/VB and bands all at once.
then, who needs a manual tranny. It will hold as much power and never die.

but meh. I want a manual protege at somepoint. i just couldnt see having it atm. rush hour around here kinda sucks and i dont wanna get the whole clutch cramp from stop and start for an hour to get to work/get home.

honestly man, youre not gonna get very far drivin like that. im not tryin to be a dick, but thats how i killed my auto trans. doin EXACTLY the same thing. i never snapped the bands but i blew out first, took an inch out of 2nd, and like 8mm out of 3rd (and somehow managed to take a chunk out of reverse). the car still drove, but barely. also the transmission overheated and basically melted everything inside. (i wasnt racing or anything, i was sitting at a stop light when it overheated) according to the transmission shop, the transmission pan was 3/4 full of metal shavings. if you want to build your automatic, go through lentech, they make some badass valvebodies that will give you what youre looking for. also, i would get a stronger gearset to go along with the valvebody and friction bands. although, if i was going to build an automatic car i would put a race transmission in it long before id build the stock trans

yea if you slap it hard enough it might do somethin lol.
but yea +1 on manual killin it everytime.
autotragic ftl

that and the gear ratios are normally different. they manuals have more low end normally. i.e 3.10 at the rear. where a auto would have 2.73.

Slush box ftl in a car that is under powered to start with.

Slush box ftw in a car that has enuf power to get out of its own way and then some.

i'm not saying your car is loud dude.
generally speaking, if you replace the stock header, add an air intake and an exhaust you will have a louder car.
most cars will be cosiderably louder than stock.
im surprised you dont know that.
cheers

Thanks for correcting this. Man if I didn't know that, I guess I shouldn't mod my car.

I'll be sure to make a mental note to ask you for your professional opinion more often.
