who had a mechanic install their lowering springs for them and how much did they charge?

I did, they charged an arm and a leg.

almost $300 including all wheel alignment to be exact.

I'd say about $120...check out InterCrew in Richardson..I don't know how much they charge now, but I think that's about right....installing springs is pretty much the same on any car....As long as you don't have any trouble loosening any of your bolts, you can do it with hand tools in a couple of hours....Just rent the spring compressor for free from Autozone or PepBoys...if you need any help, let me know...

Nothing I will be doing it myself, just like with every other car we have lowered.
Not hard and if you can get the compressors from local auto stores. Or just do it without one, though it is harder and more dangerous. :)

im planning on doing it myself, or hookin' vic up to help me...the only thing is that i dont know how to disconnect the brakes from the strut, and i took out all the trim around the rear, and the seatbelt assemblies look hard to get off

Simple. All you have to do is slide the metal clip off that attaches the brake line from the strut valve body. Then at the bottom of the strut, there are 2 bolts to detach it from the steering knuckle.

Alot of shops won't even do it. They don't want the liability of installing something they didn't sell. I called around when I did my Focus springs and dampers and only 1 out of like 10 would do it. And they wanted about $180 with no warranty on the work or responsibility if parts were damaged. I did it myself but I just wanted to see how much it would cost. They only thing I paid to have done was having the springs compressed on to the struts. That was $10 per strut. When I put the stocks back on when I traded it in, I rented one of those manual compressors from AutoZone.

didn't Victor already offer to do it with you? I thought he did. (shrug)
I know he did his own, and $50 is an absolute deal
