I've been asking around and the general consensus is that it improves the car even though you don't have any issues...
On the "other" forum, someone dynoed the reflash and found that the power band was slightly extended to redline... Others say the car has a more usable power now...
I don't know, this is all I've been reading. I've been trying to get as much info a possible.
My concern for this was that I have not been having issues at all...though my car falls within the affected range...
I believe in "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"... Though, having reduced soot out of the tail pipe is a plus, along with a little less fuel here and a little more fuel there...

nah, i'm not part of any other mazda forums. i also take alot, well, most of what i see on the 'net with several grains of salt. might have alot to do with being a moderator on some very established automotive forums, might have to do with my understanding of human nature when it's got a public and practically anonymous virtual soapbox. i'm not saying people always lie, but i've seen SO many things like this get so blown out of proportion and become almost cartoonish, that i have to rely on what i actually know vs. what other people say they know. that is what prompted me to call mazdausa and a trusted dealer service source when i found out about this TSB.
i feel strongly that there is a difference between a model-wide update, vs. a flash based on a problem that was the basis for a factory TSB.
traditionally, manufacturer's will issue updates that apply model-wide, or atleast is dictated by VIN as a general update vs. something that is created to help solve a problem....a problem that i don't have.
i think there is confusion rooted in alot of things- one is the word 'reflash' and what it usually means when we hear it. another is that it's new, so people seems to think that because it's issued, it's better, even though they are for some reason missing the obvious point that the flash is being instructed as a FIX for a problem that isn't present on their car.
i dunno, i just don't get this huge uproar about the 'reflash'. i would if i was having a gremlin in any way, but i'm not.
