well I got the car back. All is fixed. Turns out is was a broken stud on the turbo assembly and it was coming away from the manifold. I bitched the service dept out a bit for not diagnosing it properly the first time and they blamed the autoport techs who put the bolt ons onto the speeds when they got off the boat. Whatever. I put a good two hours into cleaning her up tonite and I have decided to keep it. But if anything else major pops off it in the next 15k it's gone. As I mentioned , I already went through the experience of a nearly new car turning into a money pit and I wont go there again. So it's a happy ending folks.

I still love my MSP :D

okay - i voted as promised..

but before you trade those keys in for another set consider this.

my first car was an 83 rx-7 (loaded). I drove the piss out of that car but loved every minute of it.

I traded it in for a 89 323GT (the original version of the MSP) married at that time with child on the way. It was fun to drive but not like the rx-7. As the years went on, I yearned more and more for a rx-7 again. I came very close to buying an rx-8 but chickened out because of the cost of ownership. I never test drove the MSP, bought is from a dealer out of town knowing about all the issues everyone talked about.

The MSP is soooo much fun to drive, just like my old 7, no wait better then the old 7. I have room for 3 chicks and some golf clubs too :D (I'm no longer married)

Before you trade it in, decide if the issues are worth trading for a car less fun the the speed.

So far no real problems with my car. Id guess there are more people with trouble free experiences than problems. Maybe some people are unlucky..dont know. I wouldnt trade a MSP for a Mazda 3, because a MSP is more fun to drive and looks way better than the 3.Also the 3 has more "Ford" in it than the MSP, a fact I dont like.
So far I have a really fun car with 4 door room for whatever(chicks :), luggage etc) which is a quick car and has statistics(handling) a real enthusiast cherishes. Ill never ever buy a boring car like a Civic Accord etc..again. Like Ive said before the only car(s) which could make me trade the MSP is another special car like an EVO or maybe a turboed RX-7/RX-8 or someother supercar.

the Mazda 3 is a good looking car IMO. Not the 5 door, but the sedan is. I like it, and with a 2.3L engine there is possible performance capability.
