Opinions on window tinting wanted.

opinions needed....

What are the pros and cons of window tinting?

Would you tint all windows or just sides and back?

Anyone got pics of a tinted 2006 Blue Mazda5?

Thanks in advance for your input.

I'm actually getting my M5 tinted next week! My 2 1/2 year old twins scream when the sun hits them so I told the wife I'm getting the windows tinted. Now in CT, as long as the front windows are legal (35% I believe) you can go as dark as you want in the back and most likely not be bothered by local law enforcement, which is what I'm going to do.

And in the summer it does cut down the heat tremendously, plus provide more privacy. It's gonna cost me $225, which I thought was pretty reasonable. I've gotten most all my vehicles tinted. And YES it does look COOLER! (hippy)

So does Canada allow tinting all the way around? In the US I'm fairly certain that in most states, it is illegal to tint the front windshield.

Sorry bud, I didn't mean that I would tint the front when I said all the way around, I just meant the whole side including the driver and passenger's windows, and the back.

ahh. Got it.

Good luck with the tinting. It was the best thing I did to our Mazda5.

Tint it!

It keeps your vehicle cooler on hot days and give privacy specially in the cargo area. Just keep in mind the laws on your state. But the best part is that it looks great!!! (2thumbs)

I just purchased a 5 and had the windows tinted the same day. I put 30% in the front and 15% in the back. I'm very happy with the appearance. Also, the cost of the tint was only a little more than the price of the cargo cover I was looking at.

does anyone know a company that produces tinted glass as a replacement for the stock windows? i do not mean tinted with a film or any kind of coating, i mean just like the factory privacy glass found on some models in the rear, solid dark glass. i saw a hummer with privacy glass all around and it was not film.

No canada does not allowtinting all around. the front must be clear, nd the drivers and passenger side windows are only allowed a very minro amount of tint (if you're going to be legal) In Ontario you can have "limo tint" on windows aft of the driver and passenger. If you limo tint the driver and passenger, you're breaking hte law. Any reputable tint shop will tell you this and make you sign a waver if you decide to go ahead.

Where I live cops won't do anything about tint. I'm getting 15% all around and if they write me a ticket, which I'm pretty sure they never will, I'll just pull it off and get 35% put on. I hate multiple shades. My '09 Focus has it and it looks lame IMO.

I was going to have mine tinted soon after purchase but was pleasantly surprised to find the dealer had tinted all of their 5s. The thermal and aesthetic benefits have already been covered.

Not to steal attention from ur thread, but.... Im going to be tinting my windows this summer. When it comes to rear windows with defrost strips, can I just use a whole piece for the rear window right over the strips, or do I have to cut out a space for them??

No, it's just one piece.

Tint it. That's the first thing I did with my MZ5. Really helps to cool the car down in the summer and privacy for your valuables, does not really hinder your visibility at night as some may say but it takes a little getting used to.

Vision impaired

We recently bought a Mazda 5 and the previous owner had all windows except windshield tinted darkly aftermarket. We are going to be forced to have the driver and passenger front window undone. Driving at night, making a left turn onto a divided roadway can be dangerous as it is almost impossible to be sure of the location of the divider. The little window in front of the side mirror and the one in the very back really look neat with the dark tint, as do both rear windows.
