ok, so Im probably going to be getting a DP within a week. but Im stuck on which to get. I've heard great things about both. so its kinda hard for me to choose. the prices are pretty much the same too. so I need testimony here. pictures are welcome as well

i've used both.

The APEX i had was non coated so it started to surface rust.

The Protosport is all stainless so no rust.

Fitment was better on the Protosport unit. The flange for the turbo is better fitted for sockets.

Piping size is very similar. The APEX looks bigger but inner diamter is very close to the same size as the Protosport.

Either one is good if you go with the APEX unit buy the coated one. So far I have not noticed a difference in performance between the two. I just opted for the protosports because it was all stainless.

If you're sticking with the stock cat-back system or going with a 60mm system, go with the Protosport DP. The DP's 60mm (2.36") piping going into the stock 50mm (1.97") or aftermarket 60mm (2.36") piping will be a smoother transition and help maintain exhaust velocity.

shawn, which dp do you have? also, I though the protosport was 2.4". the apex is only 2.5"... so...

i have the apex thermal coated dp. I believe it is 2.5 inches, (It better be!) i hope that isnt the outside diameter.

I like it but it is already starting to show dirty rust marks slightly.

I noticed a large difference when it was put on.

So far I have nothing but good things to say about my APEX DP. It is coated, and the guys at the performance shop where I had it installed raved about the quality of the pipe and said that fitment/installation was a non-issue, bolted right on perfectly. (probabely should have done it myself) And as far as performance, I am still having fun with it. Big diiference can be felt, especially at highway speeds, feels alot quicker, and torquier. Also, exhaust which is otherwise stock, (for now) sounds a little deeper. If I could do it all over again, I'd buy APEX again. One side note: the CEL eliminator or whatever its called that goes to the O2 sensor doesnt really work too well, no check engine light for the first two day, but then it went on on the third, reset the computer, no check engine light for another day, then right back on. The guy at the performance shop said he is pretty sure that its the CEL eliminator. He called it "flimsy", and said he would find another one or try to get one made for me. But anyway, I dont think Protosport makes on of those thing anyway. I think that is the only one available actually.

remember IF your going under 2 1/2 diameter piping Eric.

just because the diameter of the piping is bigger(being good)

apex diameter piping is bigger obviously, only the ends are smaller so that they mate up with the stock s-pipe(which is important) and stock cat-back. but the cat back portion can always be modified a bit to mate up with a 2 1/2 piping.

well the outer diameter is bigger. APEX does use a bigger guage pipe. Now inner diameter wasn't much difference. I think .1" is not a big difference. IMO
