Ok i need some help because there is just to much to choose from. I need to be tuned as well as some gauges. So far my speed has been built like a sleeper. It has been stripped of the mazda speed3 decal. I would love to keep it as a sleeper as well.
1)Things done to my speed 3 so far....
-turbo xs down pipe
-turbo xs test pipe
-fugita cold air intake
-front and rear hokins sway bar kit
-upgraded rear motor mount
2)Things that i have found to choose from.

It really only boils down to a couple questions.

1. How much time do you want to invest in the tune.
2. How much Cash do you want to invest in the tune.
3. Do you plan to go big turbo soon.

There are only 2 tuning solutions I would personally trust. Cobb AP and CP-E Standback.

Cobb AP - Least amount of time and money invested for benefit. Great out of the box Tune, user friendly and custom tunable later next year.

CP-E SB - Great solution if you plan to go bigger turbo soon or ever want to run Meth Injection. Expensive to tune and you need to invest time to get more than an MBC/Map Clamp out of it and get it tuned correctly at a tuner experienced with the SB. End result will be more power than the Cobb AP as you can custom tune it today.

So again, it's really all about how much time you want to invest and how much money you want to spend. Both will give you great performance increases. Both are good products. The rest out there are really crap (in my personal opinion).

Well im open to both but im leadin toward the cobb after i get some gauges for x-mas then i have to choose between the two

I love my CP-E Standback!!!! I was initially scared of it before I bought it because I had no tuning experience. But after using it with the guide of CP-E, I'm a pro at it now. I actually have a thread on the "other" forum that helps newbies learn how to tune, etc...

But Cobb is sure easy to use, but you are limited to their tune...not a custom tune for your car.

thanks i really want a custom tune but i am new to tuneing

can you post a link to the thread about the use of cp-e standback

I'm getting the CP-E when I can just because you can tune it yourself. I don't know if you have any friend that are familiar with KPRO for Honda but I have a guy who tunes his RSX that looked at CP-E with me and said it's not too crazy different so he could help out a bit.

that unichip looks pretty good. Damn I wish these things were cheaper! I've got a grip of bolt ons and mods it would be nice to take advantage of the extra power

yeah it's too bad these things are 1/2 the price they are. Like $300 or so. I'm sure for the the more prevelant cars out there like civics and crap they have chips like these for $200-$300.

cobb AP recently got a firmware upgrade to include datalogging (which is pretty sweet), and soon software so you can tune yourself. Hopefully more shops around the country will be picking it up too, so we can take our cars their if we're not brave or experienced enough to do it ourselves. But from what I understand there will be lots of How to guides from cobb and the software will help make things easy for us all, we'll see I guess.

There was a guy in oregon (Tim bailey at surgeline tuning) who tuned a local ms3, and the guy put down 285 and 300 whp on 16 and 18 psi tunes respectively... on an AWD mustant dyno! Anyways, a few of us guys have emailed Tim @ surgeline, and I guess he is willing to do custom remote/email tunes (based off of datalogs and what you want out of your car) for not too much money. I am looking into that right now, as there are no local options for me in the near future and I don't feel totally comfortable tuning myself once the software comes out. Plus... who knows when it will eventually get here. I'm thinking I get this decent remote tune thing, and then when the software is out I can tweak it on my own a little as needed.

Obviously I have a cobb ap and hoping things for it turn out well, lol... but with that said the SB is really the only thing for big turbo/custom tune/max power right now. The boost control on it does seem to do a good job also, controlling spikes and such. I guess I just believe a little more in flash technology vs piggyback.... plus the AP route is cheaper and im a cheapass :)
