Yesterday i was taking off my cold air intake filter to clean it and when looking at the engine/transmission i noticed there was a large amount of oil and grease on the drivers side of the engine/transmission.

Does anyone else have this, is it normal?

I was looking around but i cant seem to find where it is coming from.

thanks,,

I found the problem... My cv joint boot is leaking the grease. This sucks because i have cobb springs installed, and i know the dealer will blame them.

How do you reckon you got a torn boot? If it let go along a seam you might be able to warranty it but otherwise torn cv boots wouldn't qualify, I think.

inspected the boot today it is not torn at all. I went to dealer today but they were busy so i have an appointment tomorrow. There are a few people on the other forum with the same issue and they had the axle replaced.

I was wondering if the cobb springs were to blame for this issue????

i had a hole in mine as well, it wasnt torn...just a very small pin hole. I just bought the boot from mazda ($65) and had it replaced at a local axle shop. I didnt want mazda giving me s*** about the coilovers causing it.

^^^^ thanks for the tip, very much appreciated. I have an appointment for next week at the dealer i will see if i can get it fixed under warranty if not then i will follow your tip.

How can the boot get a pin hole???? I can only see them getting torn if the rubber is old and worn out or if you are doing some off roading, i do neither so i am very puzzled.

I was wondering the same s*** dude...maybe some thing flew up and punctured it while driving
