Oil everywhere...

My car's been running not so smooth lately, and it threw a code saying Random Cylinder Misfire. I got some Denso ITV22 (one step cooler) plugs and began the install. When me and a friend (he is more the car guy) popped the intercooler off we saw a ton of oil in the valley and in the throttle body tube from the IC and the tube at the top of the IC. Also checking this level of the car the oil was at the MIN line. I got my oil changed at the dealership 2k miles ago and have no idea why this could have happened. We ran the car for a bit to see if the oil leak was visible but it isn't, and there is never an oil spill under my car when parked. Any ideas? Thanks

well your turbo could be bad or your pcv could be stuck open and you could be blowing a lot of oil through the valve cover vent to the intake. take off your turbo inlet and see if there is oil there. I'd probably take it back to the dealer though.

turbocharged engines have some natural blow-by. Excessive Blow-by could be the PCV Valve as mentioned, or worn seals as also previously mentioned. Really these are the only two possibilities.

One is $5, the other is ~ $1000. Guess which you should do first. The fact that it looks like the crankcase is being pressurized and oil is leeching through the valve cover gaskets leads me to believe it's the PCV Valve. At this point, you need to do the VCG's at the same time.

Thanks for the help guys, I'm taking a road trip up to San Fran tomorrow so I'll keep an eye on oil level as I go. After changing plugs and refilling with oil car already feels 10X better. Time to do the rest of the work when I get back next week.

I would change the PCV Valve.. it's honestly easier than what you've done already. I'm not sure where it is on the MZR, but ususally it's somewhere around the VC.
