Oil after 900 miles

I was ready to change my oil when I hit the 1000 mile mark. Thinking my oil was going to be dirty and black from being break-in oil that's been sitting in the car for months, I went ahead and checked my oil level and condition. I shut the car off and, 5 minutes later (as per the manual), wiped the dipstick and checked my oil level. It was WAY above the max line. It went all the way to where the dipstick starts to ripple! I went back in the house to get the camera and searched on the forums for similar problems fearing I may have blown some seals already. Went back outside 20 minutes later and re-checked. Looks much better now, but it's still a touch above MAX. On another note, I'm surprised at how clean the oil still is. I definitely gave the car a "hard" break-in during its first 600 miles, with the first 100 miles being harsh stop-and-go city driving with a lead foot and familiarization with a gas pedal that's lighter than what I'm normally used to. On other cars I've driven, the oil usually goes dark within 500 miles.

For those who chose to change their oil early, how did your oil look like?

changed mine out at 250 miles and it was filthy. But now on my new oil it has been about 1000 miles and the oil looks like yours does. I overfilled mine a bit as well to about the in max and it has been fine.

I might let it go for another 500 miles or so because the oil still looks clean. Though I might be tempted to do it early once my spin-on filter conversion comes in from PG.

looks normal... i used to have a 95 integra gsr

While the MS3 has everything I want in a car (minus AWD), I can't stay away from the raw-ness of a modded 'teg with stiff suspension. It will stay in my stable for a very long time. (yes)

I changed mine first thing. But I have not gone with synth yet just plain dino untill 5 or 10K.

i beat the snot out of mine so every 3500 i put another 6qts of synthetic, i will tell you this and you teenagers out there might laugh but if you run the oil between your index and thumb and smell it for signs of being cooked you can somewhat tell when it's time for a change. it really depends on the temperature it reaches, if you baby it for 5k miles the oil will still be transparent and very thin, if you beat on it it can get dark, thicker and somewhat burn-like smell pretty fast.

when I should do my firstoil change?? dealer said 5k but its way too much Im thinking 1k??

I was thinking of changing at 1000 miles until I looked at my oil today. If your oil is already dark, I'd go for 1k.

Yes, that's full synthetic. But it's up to you whether or not you want to switch. Some say synthetic isn't beneficial if you do early oil change intervals (3k miles). Since I'm sticking with the manufacturer's recommended OCI of 5k miles, I'm switching to synthetic.

Again, the benefits of synthetic vs dino is arguable.
