Official MAZDASPEED3 Specs: 247hp/280tq!!!

yeah you are probably right then... i never drove a msp so i cant argue with you.

and, i never got to autox my p5 before it was destroyed... :(

i think the way a WRX drives is all about the driver... There is a WRX here that owns STX... and my friend's WRX was quite fast in autox as well, considerably faster than comprably modded WRXs. But, it was becasue of the driver...

its hard to separate the car from the driver, at least when looking at autox... I myself know that my WRX has way too much roll, thats why i am upgrading its suspension.

i mostly wanted to make sure people know the WRX is not about straight line speed... i have autocrossed it, rallycrossed it, plan to take it to the track next month and also maybe the drags. I like it because it can do everything relatively well. but the rally aspect is the best part of it all :)

oh and my previous statement was meant to say that simply a heavily modded rex (powerwise) will outhandle any fwd car with comprable power. stock for stock wasnt what i was referring to so much as putting that power to the ground with out just smoking your tires through turns and straights.

I find strange that the 0-100km/h is "only" 6.1s ... With 80 HP more than the MS Proteg it should be quicker!

Did you see in that story that it said that the speed3 will be detuned from 260 to 220 hp. do you think it will be that low? (boom07)

That article is over 15 months old and purely speculative. I wouldn't put a whole lot of stock in it. BUt that's just me.

your right, i didnt see it was from Dec. 2004

If everyone is so concerned with AWD then buy a car that is AWD . A MS6. Mazda isnt making these cars to satisfy everyone, just increase sales. Which they have been very successful in.

and Just with the mazda3, not even including the sales of the turbo-charged cars.

Thats my thought, don't be pissed at a car because it's not AWD cause thats what u want.

WHat are heavily modded MSP's, P5's,turbo/supercharged Rsx-s, Srt-4s running??. The same times as AWD vehicles.

If a car is fast, it's fast. It's not based on whether it's FWD,AWD, or RWD.

When does the MS3 come out? That's the info I want. We can all wish for the M3MPS but who has the money to import something like that? I mean its great, but, when, where, why, how?

what are you talking about importing? The MS3 will be here in the fall as an 07 model. Probably around September.

Very VERY dissapointed there is no AWD.

The reason why it's only FWD is bc Mazda doesn't want it competing w/ the MS6.Which would be better since that means it would be slightly cheaper. At least they dropped in an LSD.Like the others said,if you really want the AWD,then save more money and get a MS6!

While, personally, I'm glad the Mazdaspeed3 doesn't have the front wheel biased AWD system of the Mazdaspeed6, I don't buy this argument. The Mazdaspeed3 will not compete with the Mazdaspeed6 any more than the Mazda3 competes with the Mazda6. They cater to different markets, age groups, etc.

I suspect that Mazda decided against an AWD system because it would add significant cost, and, probably less important to Mazda, weight. With a car in this segment, cost is a major factor, and if it started pushing thirty thousand dollars, I don't think it would sell well. I think most people would spend a bit more and get the Evo or STI.

Well,I was just saying what I read in SCC.It wasn't really from me.But w/e,I'd rather get an STI or Evo over the MS6,myself,lol!

Well, in Europe there's the Golf R32 which has AWR, they could (Mazda) have thrown some competition at that one!

Found this picture on here.

If you look at the front driver side suspension, what is that gold/brass piece coming off the strut body?

On the exhaust, I see the main muffler, but what is that piece right before the tip? Another resonator?

I just cant wait till this fall then, I need to start saving up if I want to get this darn hatch.

Yes, another resonator. I believe the gold/brass piece is part of the steering and not attached to anything. It's the angle of the photo.

Yes, but Volkswagon has been doing more expensive cars lately, too. I think it goes over more well with VW than it would with Mazda (although their extreme example, the Phaeton, went over like a lead balloon in the U.S.). The R32 was also sold here in its previous platform and quickly snatched up by consumers. I'm not convinced the Mazdaspeed3 could pull it off, and I'm sure the same thing went through the minds of the execs at Mazda and Ford, too. It's the same reason why Ford has not, and probably will not, ever bring over the cool and fast Focuses from Europe. No one here wants to pay $30,000 for a Ford Focus.

Then they should call it something else. Nobody thought people would pay $35,000+ for a V6 Golf with AWD, so they just called it an R32. I could go out right now and buy a used Golf VR6, pop in the HTTA aftermarket AWD system and have an R32 for less than $20k. HTTA also makes a TT setup for the VR6.

If Ford brought over the high-performance Focuses from Europe, they could just rename them for intro in the states. Like "Ford Cosworth Special" or some SVT model. It's all in the marketing.
