OEM P5 vs Pioneer DEH-1300MP

A friend with a 2003 P5 wants an MP3 deck and I have a spare Pioneer DEH-1300MP that I'm going to give him.

However, I want to make sure the internal amp (which is obviously nothing special on a $60 HU) is going to be enough. The FAQ says the factury HU does 50W RMS but doesn't say what anything about impedance or whether that's per-channel, etc.

The Pioneer does 22W RMS per channel into 4Ω. Will that be enough to power the factory speakers in a P5?

it will do just fine with the stock speakers. it might sound like crap, but that will be from the limitations of the stock speakers.

Ok thanks, that's what I'm looking for. Just making sure it's not worse than factory.

This is a question I've been wondering too. 50W RMS from the factory HU can't be per channel, I don't see how... there are few aftermarket decks that pump that kind of power out at 4-ohms, you typically need a dedicated amp for that. 50/4 = 12.5W/channel which sounds a lot more realistic and in line with OEM HUs for most vehicles. Aftermarkets typically put out 14-20WPC RMS, which is an upgrade, though not earth-shattering.

I still would like to know how the stock HU can drive the supposedly 100W spare tire subwoofer on the 03.5 P5s, not to mention the door tweeters. That 50W max coming from the HU is getting split amongst 7 speakers now, one of which is a 100W sub :\
Of course a sub won't use power constantly so it's probably more of a peak hit, but still.
