Wondering if new 2007 IPOD OEM Adapter will work in 2006 cars?
I know we will have to wait to see BUT apparently, in Japan the 2006 MY Mazdas have this option as a dealer accy.

Therefore, does anyone know if the radio actually changes for 07' or is it the same radios but with just a new adapter for ipods?

Would be nice if it worked on previous radios.

The dealers I've talked to have been told that it will be compliant with previous year model Mz3's, so I assume it will work with the previous 6's also. That being said the dealers won't know too much until the thing is actually released.

It's also possible that some of the other input methods for the Mz3 will work with the 6's stereo. Look HERE for a list of those that I put together. If nothing else a quick e-mail to the manufacturer might give you an answer.

I just added an aux port to my 2006 6 Sport Wagon. I bought the MAZASX module from Peripheral Electronics. It plugs right in to the CD changer port of the factory head unit, then there's one wire to connect to ground to activate the aux2 port on the unit. connect an stereo RCA to 1/8" cable and you're done.

I mounted the unit behind the glove box, and ran the 1/8" plug insude the upper compartment above the radio display. Sit the MP3 player in, plug in and go. Press CD twice on the radio, and the display says "EX".

Here's the link, just scroll down to Mazda: http://peripheralelectronics.com/web/aux_in.asp

MDEAN - Question for you re MAZASX aux port

Thanks for the info -
You mentioned it plugs into the CD port on the head unit. Doe sit provide a bypass for your CD harness? How does the CD player plug intot he head if the AUX is pluged in there?
Also, I assume there is nt track advance somtrol, etc. since the 1/8" audio is the only connection to the mp3/ipod player?

Thanks again.

I have a non-Bose single CD head unit. There's a port on the back of the head for an external CD changer. That's the port it uses. Hit the CD button twice, and "EX" is shown on the display.

Nope, no track control, just clear un FM-modulated audio. The RPM store has one that according to their description will change playlist and tracks, and control the Ipod power as well. I didn't get this one as I have a Creative Labs Zen Xtra.
