OEM Brake Pad Compounds

Did a quick google, went to a couple parts websites and did 2 or 3 searches here. I'm sure the information is out there but I can't seem to find it so here goes the question.

What compound are the OEM brake pads for the Mazda 3 made of? A friend of mine said something about Mazda switching to cereamic pads as an OEM part a while back which is why they perform so well. (This friend was driving a 626 at the time.)

Sounds a little sketchy for a manufacturer to care that much but it's interesting nonetheless.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

I called my local dealer about this today for my 2007 Mazda 3 I Sedan, and I was told the OEM brake pads are Semi-Metallic. Dealer also said he is not aware of ceramic being used by Mazda right now.

ATE is the primary supplier for the Mazda3/Mazda5 OEM brake parts/pads... they are semi-metallic
