My best guess:

It muffles the exhaust gas...twice...creates lots of weird restrictions and pressure points, keeps gas in the system longer, I guess makes things super quiet...and is 100% a gimmick. I can't see one reason that something like this should be used in any form of performance situation...

Considering that the best exhaust system...from a power aspect...will have NO muffler at all...why you'd want to run your exhaust gas through one...two times...is beyond me...

they're supposedly quieter since the exhaust is run through the muffler twice

edit: ninja'd lol

running exhaust gas thru twice isn't new, the egr does it but doing it at the muffler level is, well, just as people have said above. It also looks like it has more opportunity to be knocking on something while moving around and stressing out your hangers back there due to the extra weight. I wouldn't run it if it was given to me. The tip looks nice tho, lol.

how it sounds doesn't address the extra weight and stress on your hangers. Other mufflers sound good without 2 loops..........I meant, get it if you like it.

pretty common design you find on Hondas. but for the price you could just pick up a mazdaspeed axleback and not worry about cutting and welding. Not to mention i doubt obx put any type of r&d into it

If you search for these a s*** ton of Honda forums pop up. On one, I recall someone asking what the benefits are and the OP responded "because it looks ballin"

The last thing I ever look at on a Honda is the muffler. I'm usually laughing at all their stickers and how mad they get when I won't race them

Mugen puts serious research into their products (wind tunnels for aero parts, for example), so I would like to think there's a good reason for it. I have no idea what it might be though.

i've seen one of these things on a toyota i want to say. Caught me off guard the first time and had to take a second look. I personally wouldn't want to put one on my P5.

"-Twin Loop: Also called "twin pass". These mufflers are a straight through style muffler internally, but the exhaust passes through the muffler body twice to further absorb sound, at no sacrifice to flow speed. You get the quieter tone of a chambered muffler, with the flow ability of a straight through, without the extra noise. It's the best of both worlds, but these mufflers tend to be the most expensive on the market."

I'm looking at one right now and might buy it, going to be pairing it with a cheap ebay catback, and headers so all put up video after install (if I go through with it)

I guess that makes sense...but honestly i can't see how a muffler like that has 'all the flow of a straight through design'...as its adding a pretzel at the end of the system...
